Re: opinion on lung nodule which got increased from 3mm to 6mm after 3.5 years

I have four nodules that were on my first scan 9 years ago. Every radiologist has listed them a different size. Some measure both sides and some give an average. I was told sizes can vary depending on how deep the breath was or how you’re laying on the table. 3mm is extremely small.

I gave up all red meat. I take 6,000 IU of D3 daily and keep my levels between 87 and 105. I also have taken 2 full strength aspirin daily since chemo ended 8 1/2 years ago.

I'm Stage IVa and cured.

Diagnosed 9 years ago TODAY! 1/2/2009

Diagnosed during a colonoscopy (partial obstruction had made me very ill) on 1/2/2009. Stage IIIB for 3 years. In April it will be 6 years since my liver resection.

CEA elevation with thyroid problems

My CEA was 5.8 when they checked it in November but all scans were clear other than some thyroid nodules. I had an ultra sound before Christmas and they found 2 nodules and a cyst in one side of my thyroid. Hashimoto's has been mentioned. I'll see a thyroid specialist/ surgeon this coming week. If y...

Re: Number of lymph nodes removed excessive?

Basil, did you have rectal or colon cancer? There are more than 100 lymph nodes in the pelvic area so 17 in the abdomen might be the same as 40 in the rectal area.

Re: MRI ALERT. FDA

I think we can, at some point, start to ask for fewer scans. I just had an MRU of my pelvic area when I had a cystoscopy about 3 months ago. My CEA was 5.8 this time and so my onc ordered MRI of pelvic and abdomen. Sounds like one test, but it ended up being 2 tests w/o and 2 tests w/ g. All were fi...

Re: CT Scan Just came in Liver Met (one)

I had a solitary liver met 1.4cm at 3 years and refused the biopsy due to possible seeding. I had a hepatic resection and no follow up chemo. That was 6 years this coming April. Scans in late November showed all clear. My CEA has risen to 5.8 but I’d had a 12 week and very bad sinus infection AND we...

Scans all normal/ NED 9 yrs post dx, etc. Stage IVa

My CEA was 5.8 early November so my onc ordered CT of my chest, MRI of abdomen and MRI of pelvic area. Everything was as it has been for 9 years. Pelvic area was 'pristine'. My TSH was double the high norm so I began thyroid meds six days ago. It can take 4 to 5 weeks to start working and 4 to 9 mon...

Re: My year long saga with high CEA.

zx, My CEA spiked at 8.5 on the day of my liver resection but otherwise only hit 4.3 or 4.4 when I had pneumonia. Recently during a routine visit, it was 5.8 and I had CT, MRI of abdomen and pelvic plus blood work. I HAD been very sick for about 8 weeks with sinus issues/ infection, swollen turbinat...

Re: CEA and thyroid

Scans were all good news. NED!!! I’ll have another set in 6 months and we’ll see if my CEA has gone back to normal then move to yearly. I’ll see a new doctor for my thyroid on December 16th. The doctor ran some other tests that I know nothing about but one included parathyroid. All were normal.

Re: CEA and thyroid

Yeah, Detox. My onc had said six months ago that to be 8 plus years out with only one met 5 years ago would put me at about a 1 % chance of having a recurrence. He also felt that because of my age, I'd not live long enough to develop cancer from my umpteen dozen CT's, MRI's, PET scans. I can't get i...

CEA and thyroid

While searching for a reason for my CEA to have risen to 5.8, I found an article about hypothyroid and false elevations in CEA. I asked my onc for thyroid testing and the results came back that I do have an under active thyroid. I can't get in to see a doctor for over a month so have asked my oncolo...
