Re: Lost my job, but

Thank you for posting and showing the real men out there! It's so great to hear these stories verses the ones where the husband leaves the wife when they find out they have cancer. You truly are blessed and i am confident that something great will come along for you!

Bless you both!

Re: To Port or Not to Port

LOVE LOVE LOVE my port! right now i've had it so long that a chemo nurse told me that only a chemo nurse would know what that scar was! I really don't notice it's there. You are knocked out when they put it in. They put mine in during my first cancer surgery. My dog did whack it one time with her pa...

Re: disability and medicare questions

I am under 65 and my private insurance will always be primary to Medicare until I'm 65. My current private insurance is better than Medicare...straight Medicare usually only pays 80% of medical items. I would get a supplemental plan that would take care of the gaps in Medicare if she doesn't have a ...

FOLFIRI Advice?

I will be starting Folfiri next Wednesday (with chemo ball till Friday). Do you guys have any advice? I went through chemo the first time with 5FU, Luekavorin, Oxi with Avastin added. That was real fun with fatigue, nausea, and some hair loss but I never had to stop it doing one week on and one week...

Re: Divorcing

Nope you don't automatically qualify for Medicaid when you get SSD or SSI. You have to apply for it seperately. It is all based on your income and DX (in my area you had to have less than $1,500 in your checking and show proof of that for the last 3 months...that was in 2007-8). One of the questions...

Re: Divorcing

Sorry you are having to go through this. I divorced my cheating spouse and then 6 months later was dx with cancer. While COBRA is expensive, at this stage you may look around for other plans, but if you can do anything to keep your exsisitng coverage due to the whole pre-existing condition junk. DO ...

Re: Opinions Please!

I think my surgeon would like to see me try a different round of chemo since the tumor stopped shrinking 1/2 way through the last time (at least it did maintain that size...grew a little bit but then shrunk a little more). Then thinking that the 5FU/radiation didn't shrink it that much this time. of...

Opinions Please!

ok so i need some opinions on what you guys would do in this situation. Ok this is round 2 with cancer. I had to do chemoradiation and it really didn't shrink my tumor at all but my surgeon didn't want to miss the window to get the cancer out so I had surgery on June 9th. Surgery went well and he wa...

Re: Farrah Fawcett Dies At 62

My heart goes out to her and her loved ones. I couldn't watch "Farrah's Story" when it first came out on tv but watching it now. So glad she did that to show the reality of treatment and living with cancer...people have no idea the crap you go through going through treatment and don't quit...

Do I really need to take coumadin if i get my port flushed?

Ok so the reason i'm asking if i still need to take my whooping 1mg of coumadin is when I told my interns at IU (Indiana Unversity) that I was taking coumadin and also getting my port flushed every 3-6 weeks they looked at me like I had 6 heads!!! Do you not have to take coumadin any more if you are...

Re: Public restrooms nightmares

Well you could say it runs in the family! The first colon surgery i had my sister used the public restroom and my room was right accross from it. well they could see who went in/out but i couldn't. well my sister went in and really 'hit it' and then this teen age boy goes in after her. when he comes...
