Re: Ovaries and Radiation

Wow, they bounce back huh? Mine never did, and almost 4 years later they are toast! Mine never came back after radiation and chemo. I did have abnormal paps too, so I had an endometrial biopsy as well as a D & C, but everything came back fine. Turns out it was just from chemo side effects. Becau...

Re: What are your Summer plans?

So much to do, so little time! I love hearing about everyone's plans...for me, we'll be heading to Mammoth Lakes, CA for a long Fourth of July weekend for some hiking and mtn biking. In August, we are doing a houseboat trip on Lake Mead, and in Sept/Oct, we'll be RVing it to Moab, UT for some mt bik...

Re: Resuming sport activities after Lower Anterior Resection

I had LAR with the robot as well, and I think the restriction was 6 weeks with no heavy lifting. You probably are ok,but I would check with your surgeon first.

Re: April Exercise Thread

Wait, the weather is getting warmer? Come live in the northeast . I'm stuck gym-ratting it up still, though probably taking a few days off to start the month with the port removal. Workouts are getting a little stale though, so i'm looking for something new to do. Hey Fletch...looking for so...

San Diego Undy 5000 - Sat March 9th

I'll be participating in next Saturday's Undy 5000 5K in San Diego, CA...anyone else interested in joining me and my team, Short Chutes? :D

It's a really fun, family friendly event...you can walk or run, whatever you choose. The best part, wear you fun boxers for the event!

Re: Did anyone stop their mop-up chemo?

I think you need to do what's best for you to have the best quality of life. I too quit oxi after 4 rounds, and continued with 5FU until that eventually became too much as well. I decided it was a risk I was willing to take and didn't want to have permanent side effects. My quality of life long term...

Anyone Interested in Volunteering in Orange County, CA?

Hi Everyone, I'm working with the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) to start a 5K fun run/walk in the Orange County, CA area. The CCA has an event called the UNDY 5000 to bring awareness and raise money to support colorectal cancer screenings, education, etc. They have them all over the country, and I'm i...

Re: colon resection and menopause

I'm in menopause early due to the radiation, not the resection. Did you have radiation or chemo? If so, that is likely the cause.

Re: new here need help please re davinci and NYC/LI area drs

Wow, this is the first time I've heard anything negative about DaVinci and the robotic surgery. I had it done last year, and it was a very successful procedure for me. The recovery was very easy and minimally invasive, and it gives the surgeon a 3D view (instead of 2D). I was up walking the next day...
