Re: Colorectal Cancer is the best cancer to get

Oh, this subject gets my skin crawling! I was dx with stage 4 in 06/2003. I had 7 surgeries in less than a month. I developed severe sepsis due to the blockage caused by the napkin-ring sized cancerous lesion that was in my sigmoid colon. Because of the stress in my body, I was placed in a medically...

I got a shocker! The cost of my cancer for the last 62 months -----> $905,800 with some charges still pending! Good Grief!!! That is a scary amount!

Re: Update on my wife

My prayers are with you and your wife. Good for you! I am glad that you are such a supportive spouse and questioning the oncologists!!! My original mets in when I was diagnosed was to my right ovary. We originally thought it was ovarian cancer and I did the complete hysterectomy. I often wonder if t...

Re: Scared to reclaim my life

I can so relate to these feelings that many of you have posted. I, too, try not to plan too far in advance but rather try to keep my schedule open for needed oncology visits. It would be such a nice thing to be able to plan something in advance. I find myself in envy of those healthy couples and fam...

Re: we've run out of chemos..

Kimlon, I just wanted you to know that there are other options. I visited Dr. Heinz-Josef Lenz at University Southern California while I was on FOLFIRI and my cancer was not progressing. He told me of some kidney cancer drugs (Sutent, Temsirolimus)that have shown to help colon cancer patients. The t...

I am smiling bigger today because my daughter and I braved the 2 degree weather and fed the geese and the ducks at the river today. I also feel "okay" which I am thankful for since I began my FOLFIRI treatment again today. I am also grateful that people understand that I have chemo brain. I forgot t...

Excellent stories!! I am so sorry to hear about your friend's wife, MissJV. I hate hearing stories of expiration dates. I discovered a couple months ago that that doctors in Utah gave me less than a year back in 2003. It really bothered me. Well, it is 2008 and God willing I will keep on feeling goo...

Joanna,

I agree with Beth. The whole showering thing and the fact that there is a posibility of infection convinced me. I was SO glad to have my PICC removed in favor of a port.

I was also on Xeloda for 6 months and I luckily did not have side effects that are described here. I took 3500 mg a day for only 2 weeks and then I had a week break. I suspect that maybe the I.V. chemo drug your friend is getting might be causing the diarrhea, I believe another poster hinted at that...

It is so hard having a recurrence. I have had several. Anyhow, as a mother of two boys (12 and 10) and a girl (7), I constantly wonder about things and I want to be here to raise my kids with my wonderful husband. I have made it 4 1/2 years after my diagnosis and I want to keep on fighting!! I know ...

Hi, Thanks for the support! My tumor marker was down 50 points!!! Yea! I really do appreciate all the kind remarks. I was thinking about Xeloda and Avastin as a possible maintenance chemo. I have several mets to my lungs, a lymph node near my left shoulder, one in my chest. I do feel good when I am ...
