I’m haven’t been on in ages which is a good thing because it means my husband is doing well! I thought coming on may help give some hope to the newly diagnosed. My husband was diagnosed in Aug 2006 at 26yrs old with Stage 3 colon cancer. He had an emergency resection and 6 months of chemo. We had ju...
This happened to my husband and also some neuropathy which led to him switching to Folfiri in the end. It was like an allergic reaction to the chemo. Skin problems and mouth sores are pretty common though.
My husband only did 6 rounds of Folfox and switched to Folfiri for 6 rounds due to spinal pains that through the process of elimination we realized was the Oxi. He did very well on the Irino and felt much better without the Oxi. Good luck you will do fine!
My husband finished chemo in March 2007 and still has his port in. His surgeon likes to wait two years since diagnosis, because of the recurrence rates in the first two years. Hopefully it will be out this August/September.
I forgot to mention that I have a family friend that is receiving treatment for a brain tumor at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, IL. Just thought I would mention this facility since in is north of the city and another option.
My husband was diagnosed in 2006. He received 6 months of treatment from Northwest Oncology & Hematology, 27750 W Il Route 22 Ste G70, Barrington, IL 60010. This is affiliated with Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. His oncologist is Dr. Reisel. He has been great for us. He goes above and bey...
My husband has strep throat and is on Amoxicillin since yesterday. His colonoscopy is scheduled for this Friday. I was wondering if any of you were instructed to stop certain meds before the procedure. He is also on coumadin for his port. Please give me any info you can. Thanks.
My husband was referred to a bank by his oncologist and I would recommend it. Obviously it isn't the most thrilling, but there is a chance that counts are low after chemo. My husband was told to wait a year after chemo finished to get sperm counts checked. We are approaching a year soon so we will s...
My husband just found out that his HMO (in Illinois) is no longer covering colonoscopies in-hospital with anesthesia, and instead they are only covering ones done in-office with mild sedation. This means that his surgeon who has been with him since the beginning can no longer do the procedure. So we...
Go back to the doctor. My husband had pain and slow healing a few weeks after surgery and he had a staff infection. With the proper antibiotic he was fine after a week and a half. Fevers definitely indicate infection and the antibiotic the doc originally gave you may not be treating it properly. Che...
I remember someone posting about Jet Blue airlines putting the blue ribbon or star on their planes. Did anyone hear what happened with that? I still think it is a good idea. I am sick of the pink too, but I know more young people that were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I think that is part of the pr...
Larry,
We were told to freeze sperm prior to chemo. The doctor said that treatment could possibly reduce the count significantly, but I haven't heard of anyone male on this forum speak of complications.
I hear so much about females questioning fertility but haven't read much about males. Does anyone know of any males conceiving after treatment, without the use of frozen sperm? Just curious about the stats. Any answers would be great.
thanks
