Re: New thread for loved ones left behind

Thank you Helen for starting this. I am coming up on the 2nd month since my wife's passing. The pain remains relentless but somehow I am finding my days incrementally easier to get thru. I have been keeping very busy prepping for a move (same building, two floors down, 1 bedroom) and getting ready f...

Saying hello and goodbye...

Hi everyone-- my sincere apologies for being out of pocket so long. In the last few months, it seemed appropriate to focus more acutely on our personal situation. And cherish every moment. My beautiful 37 y.o. wife Tarika passed on Feb 21st after being on hospice for two weeks. A bright, warm, cheer...

Re: Dying Thread

Pwheelhouse- you are in good company. Since my wife doesn't want to know anything, my expectations of when the worst is coming keep shortening or lengthening if only because we are not prepared and have to rely on CEA movements and her relative ability to tolerate the folfiri + erb on any given week...

Re: Dying Thread

I can so appreciate Val*Pal's perspective. Since my wife has a healthy dose of denial to survive day to day and doesn't want to know anything until the big hits come, it is so easy for the caregiver to sound alarmist. Esp. with imperfect info but what I have gleaned from this forum. And any chance o...

Removing bad taste in mouth (tips/tricks?)

My wife is on salvage therapy currently consisting of 5FU pump for 48 hours, irinotecan and erbitux every other week and on the off weeks, erbitux only. The Oncs are considering adding avastin and ziv-aflibarcept after the results of a brain scan for previously treated mets is in on Friday. She's al...

Re: Dying Thread

Thanks so much for this thread Ashlee. I am grateful. As a DH and primary caregiver to a beautiful woman who doesn't want to know anything until the big hits come, it is often hard and a guilt-ridden experience to want/try to be prepared. And her time is coming in the next few months. I just know it...
