Re: Can Gout Cause CEA to Rise?

From what I have read, any type of inflammation can cause an elevated CEA. The extent depends on the severity and where the inflammation is. If it continues to rise after the gout has subsided, it is likely not the gout. Difficult to tell on one measurement - have to look at overall trends.

Re: Siblings with colorectal cancer?

Are you getting tested genetically? As you are quite young they should screen you for Lynch syndrome, this is important as if you are positive the screening and colonoscopies may be needed in your extended family, not just your siblings. Talk if over with your Oncologist.

Might consider a colonoscopy to make sure nothing is hiding there.

Re: Everolimus

I believe this trial is located in Boston only (Mass General and Dana Farber). This likely means that you'd have to make yourself available to Boston for it. I am traveling there from Maine once a week for blood test and follow up. I have also had CT's there and will have follow up scans in 2 months...

Re: Everolimus

I am taking AV-951 - a new experimental drug that acts similarly to avastin - it is a pill form. The other drug I am taking in the trial is RAD001 which is everolimus. The link that Bev provided is the trial that I am on.

Re: Everolimus

Hey, Just saw this eirlier post - I do not know much about everolimus and colon cancer as not much in the way of studies are done yet - but some early studies show activity in resistant strains of CRC when used along with avastin. It has also shown some response in gastric ca too. It has only been a...

Re: cimetidine alternative treatment

White Swan,

Where do you get your PSK?

I am having a hard time locating a good source on the web that can provide a reasonable cost for a 3 gm daily dose of the hot water extract. I like the clinical data available and I am thinking about a trial

Re: Anyone Taking DCA / Dichloroacetate?

Don't know anything about the funding of this recently published study, but it is safe to say that DCA and other orphan (non-patentable) drugs will likely only be studied if there is a way to make them patentable and therefore "worth" funding (i.e money making products). We have data on as...

Re: Anyone Taking DCA / Dichloroacetate?

O yeah, what dose of DCA are people taking? Seems like 10 mg/kg is where I might go based on what I have read - but not sure.

I am also on artemisia (wormwood) a natural anti-malarial drug that attacks the use of iron by tumor cells.

Re: Anyone Taking DCA / Dichloroacetate?

I am on the verge of taking DCA soon as well, would greatly appreciate any experience in getting the stuff - Medicor vs BUYDCA site vs other etc. Cost and ease of use issues are what is holding me up....plus I have some neuropathy from FOLFOX already. I like the mechanism and target of DCA, and now ...

Re: Second opinion

Terry, I would also ask if they would reconsider if, after further treatment, the nodes were to become PET negative would they reconsider resection of the lung nodules. Many lymph nodes in the chest are just too deep and near too many vital structures to resect, but if chemo knocks them out - maybe ...

Re: Very Important Info To Share

Mike, Thanks again for sharing the info - I think an open mind and an open aproach can only be helpful. I am certain that factors other than genetics, age and stage play a role in those who survive. Your sharing will help others. Looking at your post am also intrigued by Dr Erlich's choices for chem...

Re: Very Important Info To Share

Did you travel to Ashland for a consultation or did you develop your program through the book? Travel to Oregon would be prohibitive to most.

Thought I'd post a reply here to bring back up to the front as there has been some heavy news on the board as of late. This thread is an important one for me at this time... I don't have any real new or guaranteed ideas but here goes.. Squeeze my wife and daughter continually meditate and visualize ...
