I just went through this with my 84 year old mother. She decided to not have any more chemo in mid June when we met with her onc to review scans. She'd had 3 cancers in the last 3 years (colon 3b, non-Hodgkins lymphoma and small intestine), with 2 resections, Folfox 2x, biopsy and radiation for one ...

My Mother got a colostomy as a Christmas present last December (long story for another thread). She turned 84 in April. She is not the most fit or active, but recovered ok. Had several visits with a good ostomy nurse and she manages her appliance well on her own. Can't comment on the radiation/surge...

My condolences to you and your family. You must be reeling from the circumstances happening so quickly. Hug your dear precious children. Cry. And then share with them some precious memories with your wife........wishing you peace through your grieving and one day sunshine.........

My mother was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at 81 in July '09. She was a type 2 diabetic on metformin as well as a low dose of meds for high blood pressure. She underwent a sigmoid resection and after a few weeks of healing began Folfox. She tolerated it pretty well: only a little nausea, but not...
