Re: 10 Years and Counting

10 years for me, too, had my last chemo session Oct 20, 2009. I haven't been here in years and I couldn't remember my username or password to get in but I looked back and found my first post and tada here I am! I just read a newspaper article about someone who had colon cancer at 30 yrs old in 2011 ...

Re: CT results - nonspecific opacity in lung?

Four spots in September. Chest only CT in December showed three disappeared and the fourth was either the same or smaller. Doctor smiled and said don't come back for six months. Like you, I was devastated in September. It was hard to wait three months, but I was sick or recovering from surgery for ...

Re: CT results - nonspecific opacity in lung?

Thanks for sharing. And if you want to comprimise on the radiation, order a chest-only since this thing is in your lung. No need for the full body scan to verify the lungs. Makes sense, thanks for that advice. I'd definitely do the scan at the 3 month point. Radiation from CTs is something to be awa...

Re: CT results - nonspecific opacity in lung?

Thanks, SBL. I don't deal with my onc anymore (whenever I have a question for him I can only get as far as the nurses at the cancer centre, lol) and I have no idea how things will go with my new family doctor so I don't even think I'll bring up the CTC test, I doubt they'd do it. One of my main ques...

CT results - nonspecific opacity in lung?

I just had my 3rd CT scan since finishing chemo in Oct 2009. The others have been clear, all my blood tests have been fine, but this one showed a 4mm nonspecific subpleural opacity in the left upper lobe. Follow-up scan is recommended in 3-6 months. I've been told that it's very small and the only t...

Re: CA 19-9 level went up?

Thanks, your answers really helped. I was just discussing this with dh, telling him I don't want to think about this during Disneyland for sure and possibly not even during the rest of our stay in San Francisco. There's nothing I can do about it at the moment so why think about it. DH thought it wou...

Re: Hi I'm FOLFOX...how do you like me so far ?

I just read the whole thread, so freaking funny! I was LMAO at these parts and reading them out to everyone in the room with me: Now I met "Joliet Jake" the baby bottle of 5FU for chemo takeout ! He won't be with us all the time..only gets out for a 2 day pass, and then we take him back to...

CA 19-9 level went up?

I finished chemo in Oct and all my blood tests, CT scans and colonoscopy have been fine. I had my 6 month blood test done last Saturday before going on holidays for 3 weeks and I just found out that all my levels (CEA, hemoglobin, etc) are fine except CA 19-9 which is 69.8 (normal is 0-37). There's ...

Re: Just Sing, People, Just Sing

I don't visit very often and am shocked to hear the sad news. I've been reading other threads about her, she had such a way with words and I am truly sad for the family's loss, for the children to have lost their mom at such a young age, that really hits home for me. My deepest condolences.

Re: Recently Diagnosed and Scared

thank you all so much for your words of encouragement. I was diagnosed on march 3, 2010, had my surgery (left colectomy) on march 11, was told it was stage (3) about two weeks later when I met with my oncologist. I was told I would have 12 rounds of chemo (every other week) for six months. I got my...

Re: Pico Salax questions

My scope was clear. Other than the hunger and lack of sleep (I got 3.5 hours of sleep last night and continued purging this morning) the whole experience was fine, not much discomfort at all. I'm not even dreading my next one in a year. I'm not on here very often but it's nice to know this board is ...
