Re: TEN years ago (yesterday)

I haven't been on this board in years, but I am so glad for whatever prompted me to check in today. Congratulations on your 10-year anniversary! I don't know whether I ever said it at the time, (life was a hellish whirlwind), but your tips for surviving radiation were a huge blessing for my husband....

I think this is the YouTube video referenced above. It looks like it would be an easy way to decorate a pouch if you're not a crafter or sew-er.

Re: Looking for ideas and your thoughts on my condition

Along with selling some items to raise cash, you might want to consider setting aside the money you are currently spending on alcohol and cigars for something that will help your health (i.e. colonoscopy/CT scan) rather than possibly endanger it. I'm not being judgmental, just looking at ways you ca...

Re: tic tacs in the ostomy bag?

Have you checked out http://www.ostomy.org? It's been a while since B had his, but I remember there were quite a few good suggestions on that site. I seem to remember the TicTac trick, but it's not one B tried., so I can't attest to its effectiveness.

Re: New Blog Post - "Surviving the Day"

Profound. My heart broke open when I read, "I have a slight headache and wonder if it's brain mets". ((hugs)) That fear lurks there, and that is something "outsiders" just don't get. B went through his treatments and he's doing well, so family and friends act and talk as if we sh...

Re: Colonoscopy Tuesday & nervous. We need a name for this!

I'm blanking on a word for colonoscopy apprehension (peer-in-the-rear-fear?) but how about when you get good results from one? Scopetopia!!

Re: How to reconcile fight for life with suicide attempt?

I believe this is comparing apples to oranges. Bodies ravaged by other types of diseases don't always bring the mental impairment that serious, severe depression can manifest. Depressed people cannot reason beyond the tiny circle of light in which they find themselves, surrounded on all sides by &qu...

Rachel said it all, and expressed it so eloquently. Please consider spending as much time with your brother as possible.

Re: Psoriasis and cancer

B had psoriasis prior to chemo, but I don't remember the time line. It, along with a nail fungus, completely cleared up during chemo but returned within a year of chemo ending. Seems as if there is strong anecdotal evidence of a link of some kind, even if it is just that something in the chemotherap...

Re: O/T - question about reporting disability fraud

Maybe it would be worth spending some time to consider *all* the things about this person which have obviously touched a very sensitive nerve with you. It's clear you want to report him. :) What is stopping you? (That is NOT meant as a challenge, but to encourage thoughtful reflection). You do not n...

Re: Late stages of this Disease

Ashlee H. - your link was spot on, very accurate as far as what I have observed having seen several relatives die of this disease. My great aunt was not the friendliest person, or the kindest, in life, but she smiled continuously while at hospice, right up until the end. I don't remember having ever...
