Re: Ok gang, need some advice on treatment

I would have cyberknife if you can, if not RFA, VATS would be my third choice. I have had cyberknife and VATS. The cyberknife is far kinder. Virtually no side affects or recovery time.
Good Luck!

Re: Sirtex

Yes, I have already had 3 liver resections, he is happy to have a go at a fourth. The problem is that each time he operates on the liver, the next time it is much more dificult to free the liver from the surrounding tissue. ie It becomes verry stuck to everything and eventually you get to the positi...

Sirtex

Anyone able to give me any feedback on Sirtex. After LAR, 3 liver resctions and a lung VATs i now have another single liver met. My surgeon says we should be able to kill it with sirtex. he says they are getting good results with it but their web site doesn't sound too convincing. Can't ablate it as...

Re: Doing a survey - Rate your reversal success

Hey Tammy, I'm another one glad to see your thread. I am in the same position, looking at reversal after an LAR and worried about the results.
Keep those posts coming guys.
Thanks. Alec.

Re: What type of shake to drink?

I would recomend Fortimel, It's a high protein shake, comes in four flavours, I prefer the strawbery. It is available in the UK but I expect you should be able to get it wherever you are. I get it on prescription at the pharmacy, don't know if you can just get it over the counter.
Good Luck.

Re: Foods I cannot eat increasing after ileostomy surgery

I have a temporary ileotomy, 5 months so far and we're talking about a reversal in a few months. I am also finding it does seem to be quite dramaticaly afected by diferent foods. I am starting to experiment to see what may make life away from home (the toilet) a little easier, and the thought of not...

Re: Healing time from Liver Resection

Mine was full open surgery and has taken 2 to 3 months to recover from it. I expect if you have no problems, and they aren't removing too much of the liver you will recover quite quiclky. However remember if they have a problem, they may have to open you up to sort it, and then you will be into mont...

Re: WATER FOR CT PREP

I have had 5 C T scans over here in the UK over the past 12 months, Liver and pelvis. Sometimes they have me drink a litre of orange and water prep, and sometimes just 500 mil of water. Seems dependant on which hospital I go to. They all use an intravenous iodine dye while they scan, only lasts a fe...

Re: LAR and Liver surgery at the same time...

I had anterior resection and liver resetion at same time. they did the rectum first, then changed teams for the liver. It took about 8 hours, 1 day in intensive care then on to the ward. I had quite a lot of pain for the first few days but I think this was mostly down to problems with the epidural. ...

Re: liver met question.

I doubt if the pain you are feeling is from your liver, I had liver mets and have had 2 liver resections, removing in total about 75% of it. I was having pain there as well and when I suggested to my liver surgeon that it was the mets causing the pain he, just laughed. He said that it is almost unhe...
