It's the epidural. I had numbness in my thighs, particularly the right for a long time after my LAR. It lasted for over a yearto some degree but never caused any problems and is now completely gone.

As a member of the mostly-lurker community, I'd like to echo this thought. For those of you going through treatment and suffering recent bad news, please know that there are more people than you realize thinking of you and wishing you well.

Julie, I strongly suggest you pack some wet wipes or diaper wipes. You may be spending a lot og time on the toilet after your reversal and the hospital toilet paper is murder on the bum. I was presented with the same choice as you for the same reasons. I too had fibroids. I went with the complete hysterectomy along with the LAR. I had an easy recovery from the surgery and I have not missed those fibroids!
