OT- I graduated and moved.... to DC!

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I posted on the forum. I've had a couple of milestones in my career, and since you guys have been there in my deepest lows, I thought it was only fair for you to see my highs too! Anyway, so if you guys don't know the process for medical students to gain a reside...

Re: Travel insurance

I think your best bet would be to buy refundable airline tickets. Unfortunately, they are more expensive than non-refundable ones. THIS is what we did, not buy insurance! Now I remember! We didn't buy insurance because the condo owner offered to be more flexible with us. Refundable tickets worked o...

Re: Travel insurance

When we took my dad to Daytona Beach we bought insurance for the plane tickets. As far as the lodging, we rented a condo from a family and when I told them about my dad they offered to be more lenient with the cancellation policy out of the goodness of their hearts. I usually don't insure any travel...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Did/do any of you go to a grief group? I have an appt for an intake next week for a support group, still unsure if I will go or not. It is age and relationship specific so for example I would be in a group of people that lost there spouses that are in my age group. The group meets every other week f...

Re: Thinking of Marco, and Katie...

KarMel. KarMel was so kind to me when I first joined this forum. She opened up to me about her being a physician and about going through the death of her mother during medical school. I continue on following her strong footsteps in honor of her and my father, and hope they've met in heaven.

Belle,

I agree with everything that's been said. You are an incredibly strong woman. Hoping for a miracle in this season as well, and that you feel well enough to enjoy this season with your family.

Best,

Angie

2 years

Wow. On Wednesday it will be 2 years since my dad left us. Year one I think was a year full of shock and numbness. The emptiness and loneliness really hit year 2, when I needed to call him and couldn't, when I wanted him by my side and he wasn't there, and when the little favors he use to do for me ...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Great to "hear" from all of you! Life is moving fast here. I'm now 6 months out of finishing medical school. At this point, I've decided to pursue pediatrics and am interviewing for residency positions, mostly in the Midwest with a smattering on the East Coast. My mom has come with me to s...

Re: POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE.... ONGOING

I had a residency interview yesterday in New York City. My aunt (my dad's sister) and cousins live there, so I brought my mom along since she's never been and always wanted to visit. My aunt took her to do the typical touristy things and I met up with them later to join. This is us at Times Square. ...

Re: Things My Mother Used To Say (Or Anyone) Past Or Present

My dad always use to tell me "you'll be ok!" Especially when I would call stressed out about anything, which was often. He was the only person who could calm me down, and when he said that to me, I believed him, every time. He's said many quotes to me, but this is the one I remember the mo...
