Re: Minimal growth on last scan--need advice

Hi Ktwmn, I didn’t have SBRT as it was felt that with the tumor location it would be too dangerous (I think they were scared about perforating the bowel / rectum). Instead we did Image guided, Intensity modulated Radiation as a compromise which I think is more targeted than traditional radiation. Wh...

Re: Minimal growth on last scan--need advice

Hi Ktwmn, Am I right in presuming that the surgery would be some sort of pelvic exenteration? If so, I am in a similar position and don’t blame you for wanting to avoid the radical surgery if at all possible. I have one recurrent pelvic tumor which we tried to treat with radiation and it appeared to...

Nanoknife for rectal tumor

Hi Everyone, I am reaching out to see if anyone has had or even heard of anyone having a Nanoknife procedure (irreversible electroporation) of a rectal tumor. I have obviously read about people having it done to mets in the liver and lung but not in the rectum. I have had a local recurrence on the o...

Re: Folfiri

Thanks to everyone who responded.

I’m heading into hospital to have the port reinstalled later this week before starting Folfiri the following week.

By the sounds of it, I need to stock up on Imodium and invest in hair clippers. :(

Thanks again

Folfiri

Hi Everyone, I do not post much but have been a pretty avid reader since I was first diagnosed back in 2010. My story is pretty much summed up in my signature below. Unfortunately, after 4 years NED, I had a local recurrence in April 2015 where a new mucinous tumor had grown on the outside of my neo...

Re: On surgeon's advice, going to try the - gulp - daily ene

I realise this is a relatively old thread, but I just want to vouch for the benefits of the “daily enema” for anyone who has undergone surgery and treatment for rectal cancer. Like many other rectal cancer patients, I underwent an LAR operation with a straight connect and although I am obviously ext...

Re: LAR surgery exerience

A big thank you to everyone who responded. The surgery is a little over a week away now and must admit I am getting a little nervous but the generosity in sharing your experiences has certainly helped ease my anxiety. Hopefully after I am a bit further along this road, I too will be able to share th...

LAR surgery exerience

Hi Everyone I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer at the end of November 2010. Since then I have had the usual 5 weeks of chemo and radiation which has apparently worked very well in shrinking the tumour which has been reclassified as a T2 from the original T3. I have been “lurking” on this boa...
