Re: Not sure how to feel right now

Hi Hopegirl, Had the exact same chemo treatment as you. Oncologist said we’re going to give you the highest possible dose as you are young and can handle it. After three rounds of oxy they had to drastically reduce the dosage as I couldn’t handle it. The oncologist said it was common enough that it ...

Re: How long in hospital after surgery?

LAR - 7 days I believe..the lady in the room next to me had the exact same surgery. She was older than me by about 12 years(still meaning she was under 50) and would not get out of bed. I could hear her kids pleading with her to get out of bed but she wouldn't budge. When I was discharges on day 7, ...

Re: 91, Folfox Done, Now What?

I'd think it was expected. Like the others in this thread, I was young(37) and had to have the does of Oxyliplatin reduced after the 3rd round due to complete lack of energy and low WBC count.

Hi AT, not anything to add other than I had a lot of lymph nodes. Glad you got to see an oncologist early and a small amount of clarification.

Re: Question...Cancer and privacy vs openness

I told my friends and family, including extended family. I keep a separation of my personal life and work, and rather resent those that don't. Where I work...it's a big entity with more than 40,000 employees and the gossip mill goes non stop. So I told my boss, the head of the division I work in, an...

Re: Questions for 5+ yr NED'ers (especially Stage 3 or higher)

Hi Ann, I exercised regularly, never did smoke except for occasional cigar, and limited red meats for a long time but lately Langers #19 pastrami sandwich has been beconning. I drink on occasion...not every week, but I like beer and when I go to a concert or baseball game, I have a few beers. Honest...

Re: Why dietary/lifestyle modifications help some avoid recurrence and not others

I think you're not looking at things correctly. Exercise only reduces chances of recurrence. And that is what studies show. Diet...I'm still not aware of any legit studies linking diet to chance of recurrence. There aren't any cancer silver bullets due to a whole host of factors with the disease, ho...
