Re: My daddy lost his battle March 16

I sincerely wanted to thank everyone for the kind words. As I had said before when my dad was first diagnosed I went online in search of sites and forums that dealt with colon cancer and peoples real life stories. This site was one of the first I found, and one of the only ones I kept going back to....

Re: Dad's Stage IV - No Treatment

I don't have alot of words of wisdom... but just wanted to offer some thoughts as well. Losing my own daddy recently was devastating, and one of the biggest heartbreaks of my life. He was diagnosed in jan of 09, and I did as you trying to help in any way I could. I want to say first good for you for...

My daddy lost his battle March 16

Its been quite awhile since I posted anything on this site.... my dads health had started to go downhill, and it was just too painful to log on and read all the stories. My dads colon cancer had spread to his liver, and the last year had been dreadful for him. He went from 230 to about 100 pounds. H...

Blood clot in liver 6 weeks after liver surgery?

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has had a blood clot in the liver? My dad was diagnosed with a blood clot in the portal vein of his liver around a month or so ago. The blood thinners are not working, and the liver specialists have looked over his scans and say its too risky to go in and do any typ...

anyone ascites due to clot in portal vein in liver

My dad had noticed his abdomen swelling, and it seemed to come on rather quickly. He had a doc. appt, and his liver numbers were very high. They done some checking and found a blood clot in his portal vein in the liver. They put him on blood thinners to get rid of the clot. He went in a couple days ...

bloated stomach--after taking Xeloda

My dad was starting back on chemo last week, and took the xeloda tablet for about 3 days and started experiencing stomach bloatedness, and his stomach even got a little swollen. He went to his onc. and told them he was not continuing the xeloda. I researched some info, and found on a medical site th...

Re: elevating CEA negative pet scan

As they said for some people is does not, for my dad when it rose.... the cancer was back. If I am remembering correctly the first scan he had did not show a reaccurance, but it kept creeping up so they checked again, and a spot showed up on the liver and lung. Maybe for your sister it is just somet...

Re: folfiri and hair loss?

I wanted to thank everyone for their replies, I am going to print them off for my dad.. I wanted to make sure everyone knew the hair issue was not one of mine, I would much rather have my dad here bald, then gone with all his hair. For him it has been a major issue, I remember when all this started,...

folfiri and hair loss?

My dad's oncologist is starting him back on chemo next week. He was on folfox before, and did okay with it. He had some pretty weak days, but worked through that whole process for the most part. His oncologist had said he was going to start him on folfiri this time, but my dad was really weary of a ...

how long does it take for cea to return to normal??

My dad was scheduled for a liver resection , anyway when they had him open noticed he had the very beginning of alcoholic liver disease, not the full cirrhosis yet, seemed to be just the fatty liver.-- Well could not go thru with the resection as planned so the surgeon "burned" off the spo...
