Re: Follow up colonoscopy so soon?

Hi Lisa, It al depends on the dr, and of course your DX. I am headed in for my 6th scope tomorrow after being DX December 2010. Last year when an abnormal polyp was discovered, my dr wanted to do a 6 month followup after it was discovered it was nothing. However, when the 6th month came up, he decid...

Re: Colonoscopy Prep - Constipation Prior To Prep - Stress?

Well - it wasn't stress - figured that when no one answered. Colonoscopy today - had one rectal polyp, doc said he believes its nothing - and I have an ulceration at the area of the resection. Again, doctor said no worries, treating it like an inflammation and no daily NSAIDS (aspirin in my case) fo...

Re: 44 yo male 2a-t3/n0/m0 started xelox regimen today

I was 46 when diagnosed - sam as yours 2A T3-0-0 - I was on Fulfox. I had a power port "installed". My wife was/is my Oncology nurse, so I did everything that she told me to do. I did the chemo, and at first it was every three weeks, a few hours in the chair, and then 48 hours on the pump....

Re: CEA value

CEA's can be in the hundreds upon hundreds. I have been told that CEA's are not a total indicator and are subjective to the individual, as well as treatment. When I was diagnosed I was under 3, during chemo after resection I was over three, and almost two years after my resection I am just below fiv...

Re: Introducing myself and a few questions

I have learned through my journey w with C Ca that CEA's are not always applicable to everyone - When I was diagnosed I had a 2.8 CEA, during Chemo over 3, and now about a 4.8 with my oncologist not concerned. I also live on pain meds for my back injury which they attribute to fluctuating CEA's - I ...

Colonoscopy Prep - Constipation Prior To Prep - Stress?

Hi everyone - hope all is doing well with all of you!!!! I have my colonoscopy tomorrow - second year post resection, one year post chemo. Last year was clean! I saw my Gastro doc two weeks ago in order to set tomorrrow's procedure. The following day I started with partial constipation. Basically I ...

Re: Should We be concerned?

Before my resection in 2010 I was 2.5 - after my resection and in midst of my chemo treatment I was in the sixes - following chemo this past Oct I was around 4.9, and I am not a smoker. I was concerned but was told time and time again (my wife is my oncology nurse as well) that the chemo will raise ...

Re: Should I be getting PET scans? How often?

I had a Ct/PET just after my resection. I recently completed my chemo treatment and begged the Onc to ok my colonoscopy and another CT/PET scan. I completed it all in the last seven days. I can now go on for another eleven months enjoying my life knowing that all tests are negative. I prepared for t...

Re: Big Week

Good luck with the scan, Craig. You know you shouldn't worry about that pain. I've worried about roughly one million of them over the past few years. All turned out to be nothing. Heck, right after dx I had a persistent pain in my lower left abdomen. I was sure it was my liver cashing it in. Then m...

Re: Big Week

Fingers crossed for you, it IS a big week. Ive got the same - colonoscopy, ct scan for one year follow up, onc and surgeon appointments. Ive had a dream run, have no reason to fear anything will be amiss, do not feel "nervous" yet my mood and bahaviour has been off kilter for a week or so...
