Re: Vancouver Eve

I really miss "talking" to Eve. We have supported each other from the get-go! I am considered Colonrectal cancer free, but unfortunately I have other "issues". 3 years out after completion of chemo for Colonrectal I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymph leukemia and MDS (bone marrow f...

Re: The Grim Reaper took another swipe at me !!

No joke....the honest truth... Canadians are only allowed to stay in the USA for 6 months per year. They have to come home to Canada to dry out after consuming all the cheap booze in the USA :D (We live in Naples Florida during the winter and hubby gets so excited with the $14 for 24 beer specials.....

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Oncologist has cut me loose. No more CT scans...she did not say "cured" but she did say that the chance of a recurrence was not great for colonrectal. Sadly, I am not "out of the woods"...I was diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymph leukemia), and MDS (anemia)..MDS probably caused by ...

Re: Outrageous "October Pink" phone call

I was stopped on the way into the Sear's store and asked " do you want to have a "free" makeup application?" I was directed to go over to the cosmetic counter to pick up my "free" ticket. The young lady at the counter smiled sweetly and told me "the tickets are $5 ...

Re: Outrageous "October Pink" phone call

Jaynee. I've told this story many times but "pink October" seems like a good time to do a repeat performace. I was in treatment sitting in a crowded waiting room. A woman across the room pointed and yelled at me...."breast cancer ?" Well the devil made me do it I said" NO as...

Re: Your stories - Anyone with Stage 3 decided against chemo

Chemo is a 2 edged sword. I continue to suffer from neuropathy, I have kidney damage, I have Anemia caused by bone marrow damage, I was subsequently diagnosed with CLL. Do I blame Chemo for all the damage...YES!! Would I do it again YES!! I did what I had to do and I have survived to tell the story ...

Re: Family rant

I did not visit with my Mom during my treatment. I didn't even tell her that I had cancer, she somehow found out from someone who saw me at the cancer clinic. The problem I had with my Mom was that she took everything as "personal ". I believe that she loved the sympathy she got from telli...

Re: GOOD NEWS....MAYBE NOT!!!

Hi Guinevere..Thank you for the encouragement. I am usually able to "pull-up-my socks" and get on with it. This time I just "lost it" and went into a full blown "pity-party". To-day I phoned and made an appointment for a pedicure with my daughter and grand-daughter, lun...

Re: GOOD NEWS....MAYBE NOT!!!

Thanks folks....I was so shocked when she called me at 6pm. I have no idea what my CEA number is. I was so taken aback that I didn't even ask her. I did not have a CEA done prior to treatment (long story) so there was never a "normal" base number for me. I have been having blood work done ...

GOOD NEWS....MAYBE NOT!!!

I posted my good news report on 29th April This is the latest update..... I could cry....I received a phone call to-day from my oncologist. My last blood work showed that my CEA is "slightly" elevated. I guess she looked at my CT scan and it looked good so she didn't look at my blood work ...

Re: Stupid things ppl tell you...

I guess the one thing that bothered me the most, and it just shows a lack of awareness, are people saying "You have cancer? What kind? BREAST???" as if that's the only cancer women my age get. And, I'm not taking away from the breast cancer movement, but they've got such a machine behind ...
