All I want to do is sleep?

I had my 10th round of fulfox 6 last week. My counts were low and they did it in two parts, the fulfox on Thursday and the Avastin on Saturday when the pump was taken off. I felt fine until Saturday evening and every since then I have barely stayed awake. All I want to do is sleep no matter how hard...

Re: New Dx - next step Oncologist

Start asking people at work, etc. who they recommend. You will be surprised how many people know someone going through what you are. I was surprised when I started asking around how often one doctor's name came up. I then asked a few nurses we knew at a couple of different hospitals to ask around an...

Re: Avastin

I am having my 7th or 8th chemo with avastin this week, along with Fulfox6 with Oxi. My BP is slightly elevated but it is usually low so not really an issue. I originally started with just Fulfox6 with Oxi for my first three treatments and they added avastin after mets were discovered on my liver. T...

Re: liver met question.

Several weeks after my first surgery and I was diagnosed as Stage 2a, I had a week where I started experiencing what I thought was "hot flashes". I was sweating at the weirdest times and had very itchy skin. Several weeks later I had emergency surgery for adhesions and they discovered I ha...

Nearing the end of my 1st course of chemo.

I had round 9 of 12 Folfox with Avastin treatments so far. The neuropathy in my hands and feet isn't too bad, but the longest my Onc has ever given Folfox with the Oxi is 14 courses before it had to be discontinued due to the numbness issue. It is hard to believe i've already been through that many ...

Re: Feeling down about scan results

I'm not a surgical candidate either. Can be very depressing, especially when your CEA has gone way down and scans show the mets are shrinking. Unfortunately it doesn't change the location of the mets, which in my case is right on top of major blood vessels which is why I can't have surgery. However,...

Re: Advice about chemo adjustment

Go for it! I am working with my Onc to take a break to go for a "family" vacation to Disney. I admit I'm afraid to delay treatments since they have been getting results, the liver mets are shrinking, but the chance to go on a vacation with my entire family is too much to pass up. I am havi...

Re: Feeling really terrible

I'm Kras mutant too so don't have any experience with your particular treatment, but, I've tried the protein drinks and stopped them pretty quick. They really did a number on my stomach I've heard it causes nausea with others too. Might try dropping them for a while and see if makes a difference. I ...

Re: What does a stage IV cancer person look like?

I think when people picture a person with cancer they see thinning to no hair, extremely thin, little appetite and pale. With colon cancer chemo I still have my hair, though it has thinned some but most people don't really notice it, have gained weight with chemo because it makes me hungry, and I'm ...

Re: More chemo? Just what is quality of life?

I know what you are saying. I have 4 more chemo treatments before deciding what to do next. I am also Stage 4, no lymph node involvement, but it did jump to my liver where I have several mets in a location that makes it impossible to resect. In the last 6 months I have had maybe 10 days that I felt ...

Re: Shaking

I have shaking, especially right after my treatment. I put it down to the drugs and how hard my body is fighting everything. The more tired I feel, the more I have to deal with shaking and unsteadiness. The better I feel, the more it disappears. I've noticed that when they do my blood work and it co...

Re: CC stage 4 with liver mets and lymph node involved...

Avastin is dangerous, especially if you have other health issues. If I did not already have a "terminal" illness, it isn't something I would have agreed to. I did not have avastin at first, but after I had emergency surgery for adhesions as a result from my first surgery to resect my colon...

8th round of chemo and some good news

I had my 8th round of chemo today and got the results of my ultrasound from last week. My CEA leves have gone down from 750 in late Nov to 54 this week and the ultrasound confirmed the tumors in my liver are shrinking. YEA! The ultrasound confirmed what the CEA numbers indicated. The chemo is workin...

Re: Husband Newly Diagnosed-Wants It Kept Secret

I have to admit that I didn't want anyone to know I had cancer at first. To me, admitting that I had cancer was admitting there was a good possibility that I was not going to be able to live our my dreams. But keeping it secret is impossible. You have to tell your immediate family and if you have ch...

Re: Emotions about not being able to work

I'm still working. I put in maybe 2 to 3 days a week but my employer is still paying me full time wages. I don't know how long he will do this and I have to admit it makes me feel guilty when I feel to bad to go in. My wages cover 40% of our income so to go without would be really hard, but to tell ...
