Long term effects of chemo on the bowel

Hello I finished 11 treatments of FOLFOX as of May 2009. My bowels didn't seem to fully recover. I also have Crohn's which didn't help matters. Since my surgery to remove a small bowel tumor and then the 6 months of chemo to make sure it wouldn't come back, I've had bowel problems which seem Crohn's...

Re: Neulasta - do you get this after your chemo???

I am on FOLFOX for small bowel cancer that was removed through surgery. After treatment #8, I ended up in ER feeling so sick. I was given fluids and potassium which helped me feel better. Treatment #9 was reduced in strength and I was better able to tolerate it. Same with treatment #10. After #10, 2...

Re: What to expect during recovery from chemo?

Thanks for the replies everyone Jaynee, I think my post is a sign of anxiety! especially with CT scan results due Friday. I wasn't expecting a fast recovery but sometimes I feel like I get maybe 8 steps forward, and for 2-3 days take 3 steps back, but gain a few steps again. But I guess thats a part...

Re: Anyone take fosamax for bone loss?

I take Fosomax to reduce bone loss as a result of Crohn's disease and prednisone use of the years. I am 34 now. I haven't lost any more bone density while taking it, gained a slight amount apparently. I haven't had side effects from it that I know of. But having read your post, I am going to look in...

Re: Weight Gain??!??!?!

I started FOLFOX Dec 2008 and I lost a pound a day for a week. Apparently I was loosing fluids from my body and not absorbing very well. I also lost mass during the winter. My FOLFOX dosage was pretty strong for my thin body size. I am 6ft and 133lbs usually, I was 138 going into chemo. Late March I...

Re: Help! New bowel issues - 1 week post first chemo treatment

Same here. I occasionally use a glycerine suppository to give it a jump start and find it effective. I use to go pretty much every day, in the morning before 8am. Now I can skip 2-3 days without an urge. Granted I am not eating as much but still.
