Re: How long till you started chemo post-surgery?

I was dx 12/17/05, had port surgery 1/25/06, colonoscopy 1/29/06 and started chemo 2/04/06. I had to start chemo in a certain time period because i started chemo in a drug trial that i ultimately flinked out of.

Re: You know you’ve had a colon resection if…

I laughed so much after reading this thread....I needed a good chuckle today! My two cents....... You now carry a tote bag filled with every thing to take care of that part of your body...hemmoroid wipes, hemmoroid cream, extra underwear, drugs, tissue, pads...the list is endless...My tote bag has a...

Re: ScottG on National TV!

I was diagnosed on my 49th birthday. I had absolutely no symptoms. I had a positive finger stick test during a routine physical. Three weeks later my tumor ruptured and was diagnosed stage 3 1 lymph node positive, 18 removed.

Re: Port Removal

I had my port put in jan. 06 and removed in march 07. My port had become plugged ( a sheath) once during treatment. When it became plugged again that's when I had it removed. The procedure to remove the port left me very sore and bruised for a couple of weeks, I felt like i had been kicked by a hors...

B-12 deficency and shots

I have just been told by my gastro dr. that I have a pretty severe B12 deficency. Normal is 180 and I am a 82. I am going for a shot today. He also says that the B12 will give me bathroom issues as well(more frequency). Anybody else in the same boat? What have been your reactions/experiences with th...

Re: CT Scan With or Without

In 08/08 my bowel collasped due to the barium and another medication I take orally to control diaherra. I no longer have to drink the barium but will have the IV injections AND a PET scan as part of my checkups. I also suffered severely from the barium bathroom wise and had been pleading with my dr....

Re: When is your cancer free birthday?

I consider my cancer free birthday to be 10/25/06. That was the first time my dr. said there was NED. It took an extra 6-8 wks after chemo ended for me to be cancer free. Thats the date my dr. follows as well.

Re: Has anyone seen the movie, The Bucket List?

I still have trouble watching movies that deal with the death of a loved one, let alone cancer. "The Last Holiday" that had Queen Latifah in it ? I couldn't watch it. So I feel the same way as you I guess. But we know the reality of the situation a whole lot more then what the movie portra...

Re: clinical trials

I was in a clinical trail for oxiplatin 3 yrs. ago. They have a responsibility to inform you of all the consequences that might arise from the drug. I would research the name of the drug. You can also research the drug trial as well. A second opinion is also great advice. I didn't do so well in the ...

Re: Is there a way?

I have had 2 bowel obstructions. I can tell you that it is very uncomfortable, very painful. I was very bloated, couldn't even zip my jeans up. I couldn't sit, couldn't stand and I just knew there was something "more" going on with my body. Call the dr. It's much better to talk to someone ...

Re: Ladies: after chemo when did your menstruation return?

I was dx on my 49th birthday(12/17/05) so I was on the cusp of menopause anyway. My periods stopped after the 1st round of chemo. I didn't get another one until 12/19/06 a day after bowel obstruction surgery. That was the last period I have ever had and I DON"T MISS THEM AT ALL! The nightsweats...

Re: Just go ahead and tell me I'm crazy

You aren't the only one who feels that way. Its a matter of priorities. I would rather concentrate on all the good things life has to offer (my son got married in the middle of my chemo treatment) rather then wasting my precious time and energy worrying about something I absolutely have no control o...
