Re: boosting immune system during chemo

I took a multi-vitamin, Vit D and a Probiotic (either a drink or a capulse type you keep in the fridge). Again, you must check with your Onc though as some high dose supplements can interfere with the chemo.

Re: Stage 4's advice please!

Hi, I'm in the stage 4 club too. Clear scans and normal CEA since my last chemo 12 months ago. So, like others it is possible. I have to admit though I have a scan coming up in 2 weeks and I'm very, very nervous. I can't remember the exact timings between operations but Ithink it was 6 weeks between...

Re: 3 days and counting....

Wow, a guess a sort of congratulations regarding the reversal, but 2 big surgeries would no doubt leave you a bit apprehensive. Good luck with it all. At least you'll have lots of love waiting from your little ones when you wake up (hope they get over the lurgies). :)

Re: Port insertion question

Hi Kathryn, sorry you've had such an awful experience. My port was extremely sore & tender for the first few weeks. I almost fainted when they used it for the first time in chemo. But it did settle and has been absolutely fine since Feb. As a stage IV and the port not bothering me I going to kee...

Re: Started four rounds of oxi today

Yes, , I've kept a jug of water on my kitchen bench all year. Nothing cold for me. Even in the morning though the water on the bench is too cold. And you learn quickly about stuff from the fridge- for example I grabbed my fruit and vegies for my juice when I woke up an hour or so ago and popp...

Re: FOLFOX and stomach upsets

Hi, I started 6 weeks of weekly FOLFOX & daily radiation back in Feb prior to my surgeries with no side effects. Then after my surgeries I was on fortnightly FOLFOX and was fine until after round 5. Then, boy it hit me! I had the cramps & the diahorrea (just like water going into my illestom...

Re: Ladies: after chemo when did your menstruation return?

I had been on the pill for many years and stopped in Jan to do a IVF cycle to freeze some eggs prior to radiation. My period came then when I stopped to start the IVF drugs, but hasn't come back at all yet. My doctor thinks it's likely to return after chemo (I hope so)- she reasures me that the chem...

Re: New Liver Mets After Resection

Hi Matt, sorry to hear about the little back. It's got to be hard when you think you're moving in the right direction. Hang in there. I always to try to think hey- what is totally out of my control I need to try & accept, but think what might I be able change that's in my control....and try and ...

Re: Why didn't surgeon tell me this?

Hi Sandy, I hope your surgeon has answered your questions by now, but I also had a rectal tumor and a something show up in the liver on the CT that they couldn't define based on the CT if it was cancerous or not. The PET scan comfirmed that the liver tumor was in fact an active cancer. Hope you made...

Re: Was my father misdiagnosed?

Hi, in regards to being terrified about the radiation- yes the last couple of weeks were reasonably painful but my experience at the radiation centre was definitely a good one (if you know I mean). Where I went I had a lovely radiation oncologist. The staff at the centre were awesome- from the recep...

Re: Considered Cancer Free-Yeah!!-Torn-Chemo or Reversal First?

I'm having 8 sessions of chemo first then reversal. Orginally my surgeon thought that we might do it in the middle of chemo, but as I'm on Avastin, you have to wait 6 weeks after stopping the Avastin before surgery (due to risk of bleeding- those are the regulations using the drug here anyway). As i...
