Re: Monitoring Q - couldn't find thread answers

Also stage III here and just had my 3 year scan/results. I get my CEA and MRI done every 6 months until the 5 year mark.

Re: Genetic Mutation

Sounds like we're in a similar situation! I actually just got my genetic testing results not too long ago and reviewed them with the geneticist in November. MLH1, MSH2, and MSH6 genes are related to Lynch syndrome though it seems that only specific identified mutations of those genes would actually ...

Re: Who is riding with me on the green tea bandwagon?

I'm on right onboard with you on the green tea bandwagon!! :D I love matcha green tea too, I usually have a cup before heading out the door for work (it gives a nice pick me up and is a good replacement for coffee)!! You have some great tea info in your post. The tip about the water temperature is s...

Re: 5FU pump not emptying - anyone have this?

If you have the same Baxter pump as I did, it probably runs on your body heat. Your bodyheat regulates how fast the 5FU is released into the body. The heat sensor doesn't look like anything fancy - it just really looks like a plastic connector piece attached to the tubing. Mine was always taped to t...

Re: leg cramps

In my 1st couple chemo rounds on Folfox I had excruciating calf cramps, to the point where my calves felt like they were in a permanent cramp and I almost was finding it too painful to walk normally (almost like a after a super hard workout). I told my oncologist about it after the 1st time it happe...

Re: Alone; relating to people w/o cancer experience

I too am so glad you posted this mm66ny. You are definitely not alone in feeling this way. The fact that we're younger cancer patients already sets us apart from the 'general' cancer population. When I was reading your post, I was almost thinking "wow, this puts into words exactly how I've been...

Amazing documentary about people like us!

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here for awhile with a busy summer and autumn which has officially ended because it's snowing today :( Anyways, I've been connecting with the Young Adult Canada Cancer group in my city recently. They launched the official opening of their office in my city this week wi...

Re: Steroids

Hi Terry, So sorry to hear that you felt like crap and haven't getting much sleep. Besides the dex I got through the IV right before each infusion of FOLFOX, I opted out of taking the dex pills after each of my infusions around round 3 or 4. I was originally told to take them the night of my infusio...

Re: Ugh...awaiting ultrasound result on liver now...

Good to hear that things look good Bill! I had to go through the same thing as you not too long ago - CT scan showed something on liver, had to do an ultrasound and then wait for results - not fun!! My special liver feature was thought to be a glob of fat in the liver

Re: Hospital Smells

I also hate the smell of hospitals, especially the GI units. The one I was on was unit 102 - my friend who works at the hospital said the staff call it unit 1 0 poo  I actually happened to whip out my little bottle of japanese peppermint oil - I think its made by Hagina. Its like peppermint o...

Re: Deer Be Damned!

Wow! Beautiful garden you have there! I like this idea of starting a gardening thread, I hope it continues! I think KarenM mentioned something about pee working to keep deer away too. At a farming supply store in the small towns outside my city, they actually sell coyote pee to ward off deer. I only...

Awesome photos Ski! Looks like it was a fun filled day! It probably felt long and tiring during but it pays off in the end (kinda like going through chemo)

Thanks for sharing with us!
