Re: Concerned

When I first started getting chemotherapy, which was 5FU/Oxaliplatin/Avastin back in 2005, I had similar problems to what you have described. With me, the chemotherapy drugs caused excessive diarrhea, which in turn caused anal fissures, which were immensely painful (and sometimes bloody). This reall...

Re: GI Doctor in Atlanta. HELP!

Dr. Ambroze was also my surgeon for my colon resection, and I see him every year for a followup. It's true, he's great!

Re: morphine

I recently started taking morphine tablets for pain control (generic MS Contin). I take 15 mg twice a day for extended release, and then I have 15 mg tablets, instant release, to address breakthrough pain. I've found them to be effective, although they make me sleepy most of the time. As Gaelen says...

[/quote] You always seem to say what I'm thinking... I think it especially to find this post interesting considering: a) the original poster doesn't have cancer b) the original poster hasn't completed any chemo treatments (to my knowledge) c) that chemo has personally made my situation operable and ...

Re: Fatigue ... crazy and out of control

Thanks for the diet suggestions. I just got back from the grocery store where I stocked up on items. I have an idea of what I should and shouldn't be eating, but am always open to suggestions. Anyway, I don't know if my red counts are down. I went in yesterday for labs. I'd trust them to call me if ...

Fatigue ... crazy and out of control

OK, here the quick background: I'm stage IV, on my fourth recurrence. Have had cancer in my colon, liver, now my lungs and pleural lining. Have had every drug available over the past 3.5 years, but currently taking Xeloda, CPT-11, and Avastin. I know my body has been through a lot, but lately my ene...

Re: Question about lung mets

Thank you, Rthorton, for discussing the lung mets. My husband was recently diagnosed with a small lung met. which originated from his recurrent rectal cancer. We are now waiting to see what MDA's team of doctors will treat him with. We were hoping for surgery (exenteration of the pelvic area); but,...

Re: Question about lung mets

Thanks for the replies. The thing about possible bone mets presents an interesting twist to the story that I neglected to mention before. I was having some back pain around the time I had my last CT/PET (late July) and so my doctor ordered a bone scan to go along with my other scans (I was ready to ...

Question about lung mets

I have a question for those who have had, or currently have, lung mets. After being diagnosed stage IV in 2005, having a liver recurrence in mid-2006 (those mets were surgically removed), a left lung recurrence in mid-2007 (removed with a VATS procedure), and a pleural effusion in early 2008 (the fl...

Re: Explanation of God

You're assuming that there is a god, instead of many gods or none at all. This piece is a Christian description of a god, not the atheist or agnostic one, not the Muslim one, not the Jewish one, not the Hindu one, not the Buddhist one....and on and on. This board does not have a religious denominat...

You might want to try the Ovarian Cancer Forum: http://www.ovariancancerforum.com/ocf/index.html

It was started by a friend who lost her sister to the disease a couple of years ago. The family remains committed to fighting ovarian cancer.

Re: Link to Carolyn's guest book

I got to know Carolyn a bit, through the CCA buddy program. She was one of the first people to call me after I had my lung resection a year ago, when I was sitting in my hospital room still loopy from the anesthesia, and I spoke to her a couple of times after that. Although I did not have very much ...

Protein in urine

My lab results have indicated a trend of high protein in my urine. My oncologist thinks it is an Avastin side effect, and even cancelled my infusion this past week. I have been getting Avastin for three years, with a few breaks here and there (current regimen includes Xeloda + Avastin), but this pro...
