Re: Right Hemicolectomy expectations

I had a laparoscopic hemicolectomy and have done very well. I had large intestine removed from just above cecum to just above sigmoid. I have more frequent bowel movements and some loose bowels at times but I have very good control. I was in the hospital for 6 days until I passed gas. Then once home...

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

Terry, I am so relieved for you that your son was found and okay. I pray he will take treatment and find the will to help himself. You have been through so much, and to worry about him too seems too much. How are you feeling? Diane - I hope you are able to get your colonoscopy to see what is going o...

Re: Pre-Cancerous Polyp, I'm 27

Hi Catherine - Congratulations on braving your first colonoscopy. Sorry to hear a polyp was found. As previously asked, what prompted you to go for a colonoscopy? I am assuming by you saying it was pre-cancerous that it was an adenomatous polyp (pre-cancerous pathology) versus hyperplastic polyp (be...

Hi Michelle - I don't have cancer, so I cannot even being to understand how you are feeling having just gone through what you have endured, but since my surgery last April, it has really hit me that I have this gene that will give me cancer at some point if I am not careful. I have been very depress...

Hi Jill - I am sorry to hear about your friend's pain and struggle with cancer. Do you already live in Florida? What if you or whoever is able to make care decisions for your friend call Moffitt and explain the situation and ask for their advice on how to move her? She shouldn't need a doctor's appr...

Re: If you want prayer stop in here!

Hi Terry - Glad to hear things went okay for you. I hope your headache continues to improve, and I hope you feel better with the sinus infection. So many people in my area have a very resistant sinus infection/cough and apparently only penicillin is working for it. I pray things continue to go well ...

Re: Bowel Movements after surgery

I think he should call the doctor with any concerns. How long ago was the surgery? I would not think eating granola and fruits yet are really good, as I had to follow no fiber diet for about two weeks after surgery and reintroduce foods slowly, but again, he needs to follow what his doctor says.

Re: Undiagnosed - Can I finally let colon cancer thoughts go?

What state do you live in? Can you apply for Medicaid? Medicaid is not just for unemployed people. I also would think a public hospital would cover medical tests for uninsured patients, and should take Medicaid as well. I know in New York City that is the case.
