Re: New to the Club

Sorry you've joined the club. It took me about 1 month exactly to go from finding a colon tumor to chemo. The wait is awful, just keep being your own best advocate.

Re: 1st Chemo; Day 2

Glad to hear. If you're still on Folfox after 8 cycles then it seems that you are tolerating things well. Keep up the good thoughts.

Re: Hope for BRAFers

I'm happy to report that after multiple attempts with multiple standards treatments, I have a found a trial that is promising for folks with the BRAF mutation. It does seem that some of us respond to agents such as folfox of folfiri, but I don't seem to one of them. The triplet therapy associated w...

Re: Oxaliplatin Dosage - Call Off

I had about 5 weeks off between cycles 8-9, and that seemed to help. Can't offer much to help aside from exercise targeting those areas, and some people swear by sucking ice chips during infusion. Worth reading about anyway.

Re: It's come back - :(

I’m starting FOLFOX on the 29/12 - any tips? I've been on FOLFOXIRI so not exactly the same, but the oxi is the hard one for me. You may want some gloves handy for reaching into the fridge for a couple days post chemo. If you're going home with the 5-FU party ball, make sure you shower day of chemo...

Re: Stage 4 “no cure without surgery”

To take the non-statistical approach, it sounds like you've had a good attitude and willingness to fight, which I truly believe can be a difference maker. One thing my onc told me is "everyone deserves an optimistic oncologist" but if you don't have one sometimes it may be best to just tun...

Re: New to the Stage IV club

Well done for getting informed . Just a little bit of encouragement. When my mum was diagnosed we did not understand the implications of the right side location . Turns out neither did most oncologist! Nor did we get any information back then on the cell type but like you she responded to chemo and...

Re: New to the Stage IV club

Thanks all, this is great. I meet with oncologist on Monday and it looks like I have 3 things to add to the discussion:
MSI
BEACON
HAI pump

Re: New to the Stage IV club

Thanks for the reply, boxhill. Not sure if I've been tested for MSI, but will check with oncologist. I'll also ask my team about the HAI pump.

New to the Stage IV club

Hi folks - I've gotten plenty of inspiration and information from these boards since my diagnoses last June, so I figured I would share my story and see if anyone has any advice. Diagnosed June 2020 in the US, stage IV, w liver mets. Male, age 50. Left lobe pretty much completely taken over by tumor...
