Re: Surgeon has me feeling horrible

I was dx in 2008 with 12+ liver tumors across my liver -- totally inoperable. Chemo shrunk things down & I had liver surgery in 2009. There's no sense in assuming chemo won't work. Good luck & hang in there.

Re: Tom marsilje

From the time of his diagnosis until his death, he must have done more for other cancer patients than anyone. His absence will be deeply felt by those of us who knew him, as well those who didn't have our good fortune. http://www.philly.com/philly/health/tom-marsilje-colon-cancer-researcher-patient-...

Julie,

Congratulations! You are required reading for people going through stage 4 with kids. I hope you have a lot more writing in you before this book comes out! /jdepp

Re: Any Chemo Lifers? Incurable Stage 4

Hi Nikmakmom, I'm in the same boat. I've been on chemo or clinical trials for 8 of the last nine years (I had one year of NED). My personal approach is to find a level of treatment that is physically & psychologically tolerable. Sometimes that's high, sometimes it's low, but I always want to be ...

Re: Britanny Maynard

For those who followed the discussion surrounding Brittany Maynard and the aid-in-dying legislation in California, here are a couple of updates: Maynard's husband gives an interview: http://www.coloradoindependent.com/161452/brittany-maynard-colorado-aid-in-dying TIME reports that since the law took...

Re: BrownBagger ....... I don't know what to say

BB was a mainstay of the Colon Club and an inspiration to many. I hope his final days were peaceful.

His family and many friends have a lot of cherished memories to help them through.

Condolences to all of us who knew him.

Re: Just got post-surgery results and they aren't good

I read this the same way as Tdubz. I think the oncologist means Xeloda + oxaliplatin is more effective & cytotoxic than just Xeloda. I agree. Incidentally, I've had many rounds of oxaliplatin. After an initial presentation with liver mets and 19 infected lymph nodes, six rounds of it helped get ...

I had a scan and met with my doctors today. Progression everywhere, so I'm now off the trial. Best wishes to DAS43 and everyone. /jdepp

Re: Message of hope from a wiley crc veteran

Rob, Thanks for checking in! You've done amazingly well & are benefiting from bold treatment decisions. I remember when you had to talk the Pittsburgh crew into letting you a clinical trial to attack your lung mets. That was a gutsy move & it paid off (incredibly). Keep up the good work &...

DAS43,

I don't know why they're giving you another MRI. I had two, but that was all. Good luck next Wednesday.

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

I'm on my way back from Bethesda after an NIH TIL trial follow up. The first scan wasn't very good, so I expected to be dropped from the trial today, but the second scan was mixed: some lesions slightly larger, some slightly smaller, so I may be getting some benefit after all. I'm scheduled to rinse...
