Re: Hello

Well Blake, It's nice to see you here on the Colon Club. We have known each other for a long time and have a lot in common with our cancer. This is Susan! I have lurked on this website for almost the 3 1/2 years that I have had cancer but do not post a whole lot. I have learned a lot from this board...

Re: Wine

From the lips of Dr. Heinz Josef Lenz at USC, we are allowed 2-3 glasses of wine a week. I even have it in writing! So I feel if I want a glass or 2 here and there it is not going to hurt :)

Re: my onc is leaving me :(

Hi Jen, I had my oncologist go out of state and did not like the oncologist who bought the practice. I know exactly how you feel. I found a wonderful doctor who I love love love and am much happier with than I was with my first doctor. My new doctor keeps up with my doctors at USC that I see periodi...

Re: Let's Play Name that Pump...

I called mine "Buddy", not very original but he was and still is my buddy for 4 days out of the month. Hope you find something good, I chose to have a good relationship with Buddy. My tumor on the other hand I named "Bitch" because I did not like her and wanted her to go away :) ...

Re: Onc in SoCal

Steph, I believe all I did was call his office and tell them which doctor was recommending me seeing Dr. Lenz. They needed my recent PET/CT scans, original pathology report from my lower anterior resection, most recent pathology report from my liver resection, and the recent doctor reports. Your doc...

Re: Onc in SoCal

Steph, Dr.Heinz Josef Lenz is my second opinion doctor and I love him. He works with my local oncologist in Orange County, figuring out my chemo cocktails and has referred me to an excellent liver surgeon who will be doing my 2nd liver resection in September. I know USC is a drive for you, but he is...

Re: This resentment thing

I figured out this resentment thing, it's called D I V O R C E! My ex had the nerve to get mad at my mom when I was in the hospital and decided not to talk to her for 9 months, all the while I'm fighting cancer. I told him I didn't know how much longer I had to live, but what I did have, I was going...

Re: Question: Nosebleeds

I am on Avastin currently and nosebleeds are definitely a side effect. l asked my chemo nurse what I could do for it (I had already been using Vaseline) and she said a saline spray was the best and not to use Vaseline because it was petroleum based. So I stopped using the Vaseline and have been usin...

Re: Kind of a gross question

Yep, I had an ileostomy for 9 months and this did happen to me also. Found out from my doctor that it was perfectly normal. I have had my ileostomy reversed so I have different things to deal with! No question is too gross for all of us. We have been through all sorts of weird things and they mostly...

Re: vanity question

I would do the waxing. Before I was on Folfuri, I would have my upper lip waxed at the salon, and then I started doing it myself with wax bought at the drug store. I heated it in the microwave and put it on with the big popsicle stick they give you! I guess the one good thing about being on Folfuri,...

Re: Xeloda pills versus Irenotecan with Erbitu?

Hi, I was also a stage IV with liver mets. My liver mets actually progressed while I was on xeloda. I was then put on Folfuri with Avastin which I had a very good response to and my liver mets shrunk.I was able to have a liver resection. I don't know where you live, I know Avastin is not available i...

Re: maybe good news

Hi~ I don' t know too much about SIRT, but I do know they will not do a liver resection if you have mets in other places. The reason I wanted to post this to you is because of your job loss. Have you looked into Social Security Disability? I am on it now, and because I am Stage IV, I was approved in...

Re: What can I expect with FOLFIRI?

Hi Karen, I am from OC too! I have been on Folfuri before my liver resection and now I am on round #4 of 6 of folfuri post surgery. I have experienced every symptom you mentioned except hair loss. My oncologist and chemo nurse even sat me down with the wig catalog and hat book and I cried. But by th...
