What did the surgeon tell you?
Did you get a definite date for your surgery?

Good luck!

Re: Rising CEA After 2 1/2 Years on Keytruda

Hi Cynthia, While CEA surges are scary they do not necessarily mean you have progression. CEA can flare up with inflammation. I guess you should get a CT scan as soon as possible to confirm or hopefully discard progression. Have you discussed this CEA increase with your oncologist? For what´s worth,...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

My CT recent scan during final CAPOX cycle in Feb showed NED with the v small liver spots unchanged (this radiologist - rather than classifying them as cysts or fatty deposition - stated that differential diagnosis of these spots included cysts and hemangiomas). However, my most recent CEA has clim...

Re: Chronic Abdominal Pain following Partial Colectomy

Not sure I can help, My surgeon told me that when they do a partial colectomy they need to "mobilize" a large portion of the bowel and pain can appear even far from the resected area. I got some dull pain towards the right side of my abdomen even though my surgery resected the left side of...

Re: Oxaliplatin induced ototoxicity (hearing problems)

For what´s worth: I have had tinnitus for about 4 years, it is tolerable and I have heard that it might be related to a number of things (hearing loss, teeth clenching, stress). I had 3 months of CAPOX and I was quite worried it might exacerbate my tinnitus, but I have not noticed anything yet (I am...

Re: 7.5 years stage 4B; now NED for 21 months!

Steve, That's great news. You were DX'ed about the same time I started posting on this board. I was wondering how you were doing and am so glad that things are going great for you. My husband has been NED for a bit over 9 years now. Never thought we would ever get here. Hoping that NED is the only ...

Thank you for the information.

Re: ctDNA test pros and cons?

Hi all, Stage 2a (T3N0M0) with risk factor PNI. I have a "non-specific" small lesion in liver, I will have TC-SCAN in two months to check evolution. I am considering having the Signatera done, but i hesitate. My CEA was very low at DX so I guess it wont be a good indicator. If the results ...

Re: It's come back - :(

Hi, it’s going ok. I’m just getting over my round 3 infusion. It’s really knocked me this time. The nausea and fatigue are relentless this time round, but I’m now day 6 so hopefully will start turning the corner. I had my planning scan for my radiation/chemo on Friday so it looks like I’ll be start...

For anyone about to undergo surgery: a few articles on Complete Mesocolic Excision

Hi all, Not sure how relevant this is for those that have already been operated, but hopefully it is useful for those that might be operated soon. I have read a few articles on Complete Mesocolic Excision (CME) for colon cancer. This is becoming standard, but apparently it is not applied everywhere....

Re: 10 Years and Counting

Hi Skifletch, For newcomers like me, It is inspiring to read your story. Also to see all the answers from so many other oldtimers is a very encouraging thing! Am I the only one frantically scanning the signatures and getting a little bit reassured and a little bit more hopeful every time someone's s...

Re: Right verses left colon cancer symptoms

Hi Jay, and welcome. I am not medically trained but I think, given the symptomps you are reporting, you should have a complete colonoscopy performed on you. It is a painless and mostly risk-free procedure, the main inconvenience is drinking the preparation and avoiding specific foods a day or two be...

Re: Worried - lesion in liver which is not hemangioma

I agree with Stu, and would stress that your doctors’ perspective is crucial here. As you likely are aware, a very low percentage of TSTC liver lesions are mets, and even lesions classed as “suspicious” TSTC lesions are only mets around a quarter of the time (according to one large study I’ve seen)...

Re: Worried - lesion in liver which is not hemangioma

Hi , If I am reading this correctly you have been on chemo between the two scans ? The positive is that has stayed the same , exactly the same and absolutely nothing else has shown up . So I think that is incredibly positive . I take it they are thinking of removing it ? Keep the positives at the f...
