Re: Anyone experienced with the 5-FU ball AND xeloda?

I did FOLFOX and then Xeloda with radiation. I loved the convenience of the pills. I had a baby and a toddler at the time so the chemo infusion was a drag. My side effects were worse with the Xeloda though. Hand and foot syndrome set in hard, so did neuropathy (that was likely delayed onset). My pla...

Re: Possible new recommendations on less Aspirin use

It sounds to me, like they are just dialing back the blanket use of aspirin. Obviously, if your provider recommends your taking aspirin you should continue. Always follow advice of provider vs random Internet article, even from The NY Times. As far as its being a big pharma conspiracy, I’d dial that...

Re: Biopsy is High Grade Dysplasia but MRI staging is T1N1b

It's my understanding that high grade dysplasia is basically cancer but it can't spread YET. So, either way, you want it gone because if left alone, it can turn into cancer that can spread.

Re: Biopsy is High Grade Dysplasia but MRI staging is T1N1b

My original pathology report also showed only high grade dysplasia. Similarly to your story, my GI doc also was sure it was cancer. They did more digging and did find invasive adenocarcinoma. In my case, the tumor was sizeable, but the area of actual invasive cancer was small. They won't leave you g...

Re: O/T seeking feedback about geriatric renal failure

So, as you know, this is NOT medical advice. However, I am a long term care nurse and we lost my dad to renal failure at 62 (he declined dialysis). Dialysis takes a HUGE toll on people. Peritoneal Dialysis is nice because it's done in the home. There are downsides too: it requires being hooked up ev...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Not a huge milestone compared to a lot of you (well done!!) BUTT I graduated from every 3 month scans and labs to every 6 months! Clear colonoscopy last week and clear scans today! I had to share somewhere where people knew the EXACT feelings that come with news like this! Thanks for "listening...

Re: Advice about resection and reconnection

I was stage 3b also. My reconnection is like 2 cm from my sphincter. I had resection in September and ileostomy reversal I'm February. The first month was awful, but so was the first month having my ileostomy. There's a learning curve to both. I haven't had 20+ bowel movements a day, but there are d...

Re: COVID 19 VACCINE ADVICE

I got my first COVID vaccine on February 10th and my 6 month follow up CT was the 17th. I had heard the same as you did, but my scan and labs were all clear and fine. Maybe ask your oncologist what he/she thinks?

Re: Constant bowel movement and burning bottom!!!

*** Disclaimer: this is NOT medical advice*** Butt, I remember hearing stories when I first started working in healthcare that "the skins have never looked better" than when they used straight up Crisco shortening. It's thick, water resistant, and relatively cheap. I'm not sure if it actua...
