Re: surgeon / oncologist disagree on staging

I was originally IIb, because I had a spread to the ovary on the same side. At least, that's what the dr said at the first appointment. Then, later on, he said, off-handedly, that it was stage IV. I had the same reaction you are having. WHAT???? Freaked me out. So, then he said, well, there is stage...

Re: Chemo - the gift that also (like radiation) keeps on giv

Here's another long term side effect--anger that we had to have treatment that gives long term side effects!! I am 6 years out and have worked very hard to get my life back. I have seen a naturopath for 3 or 4 years and I HIGHLY recommend that. She actually pays attention and HELPS with all those ma...

Re: My next to the last scan

I have been clear for 6 years and 5 months. It has taken me most of the last year (after the 5 year mark) to get used to it. I don't worry nearly as much as I used to, but, as you can see, I am still visiting the Colon Club tonight. Why? Beats me. I still identify as a "cancer person" even...

Re: What do you think? Am I too much? Shall I send it?

But while I'm venting, a shocking thing to me yesterday was that in the last 8 years (since my own breast cancer was diagnosed) the advances that have been made in breast cancer treatment have only been to make it MORE horrible than it already was. They have added treatments without removing any and...

Re: What do you think? Am I too much? Shall I send it?

CRguy, Well put, and you hit the nail. I do have plenty of negative energy around this subject, and yesterday's experience caused it all to go into overdrive. I have had a deep longing, accompanied by a knowledge of the futility of the hope, to somehow effect some change on the system. Obviously, my...

What do you think? Am I too much? Shall I send it?

Dear Doctors, Yesterday, I accompanied a young friend to your multi-disciplinary clinic. They asked me because I have had both DCIS and stage 4 colon cancer and have had many surgeries and treatments. Been there. I applaud your efforts to take care of this patient by having all the appointments in o...

Re: Stage iv CC metastasised to ovaries

I had metastasis to one ovary. It was on the same side as the cancer (right side). The ovary was huge and completely involved. It has been 5 years since surgery and no recurrence.

Best to you.

Re: Stage 4 Survivors - Can you update us on your progress

I think positive stories are helpful, so here's mine. Diagnosed with breast cancer (stage 0) in spring of 2006 and had 8 surgeries with 2 kinds of reconstruction. Huge trauma. :( 6 weeks after I finished all the breast cancer reconstruction (DONE!) I was diagnosed with colon cancer (spring of 2008) ...

Re: NED post + comments !

Woof! HOW to get back to "happy-land?" Will be 5 years out in a couple of months. While I have been MUCH less anxious for the last 6 months or so, I sure wouldn't say I'm as happy as I should be. Mostly, I wish I was where I was before all this started. Now, I feel like I've been through t...

Re: What happens after chemo?

Read "Beyond the Magic Bullet" for "what's next." If you are seeing a naturopath (as I am) you are probably being encouraged to do much of what is in that book. This is the best way forward I have found.

Best to you,
Ann

Almost 5 years NED

Had my onc appointment today. Almost 5 years NED. He said it is looking more and more like I could maybe, possibly, be cured. He said my results have been unusual. Just wanted to encourage someone today. I know I am.

Best wishes to all.

Beyond the Magic Bullet

Dear All, I've recently found the most helpful book I've ever seen. After being in the cancer-wars for 6-3/4 years, I've spend 1000s of hours researching. Everybody needs to see this book: Beyond the Magic Bullet, The Anti-Cancer Cocktail, A New Approach to Beating Cancer , by Raymond Chang, MD. Was...
