Re: keeping track of those we have lost

It's not a matter of quantifying ...i dislike your "question" August, you are absolutely correct, it is not about quantifying - I was not quantifying anything. Qualifying, perhaps. What I was trying to point out is we truly honor people by remembering/honoring the life they lived, not the...

Re: Prep for colonoscopy

I'm with Kitty on this one...OsmoPrep is the way to go...if your doctor will allow it. Beg for it! The key is to drink, drink, drink...lots of water, clear liquids, whatever works for you. The day before my last prep I ate a soft diet...no high fiber stuff like hearty grains, corn, peas, etc.... The...

Re: keeping track of those we have lost

Do we learn more from those we have lost by how they LIVED with CRC or more from the sheer fact they died from it? :(

Re: keeping track of those we have lost

While I think this is a noble and very loving idea, to honor and remember those who have succumbed to CRC, I personally don't think a cancer SUPPORT forum/group is the place to do it. Think about it...when you go to a support group in the "real" world, let's say at a hospital, do they run ...

Re: Colon Cancer is totally preventable...

The words "totally preventable" seems to have caused a bit of a stir here.... I imagine this notion is coming from the CRC byline...or is it buy-line..."Preventable, Treatable, Beatable". While colorectal cancer is NOT totally preventable, as in the case with inherited or familia...

Re: What is Moviprep???

If the Osmoprep you took was the pill-prep and if you did okay on the pills, personally I would go that route rather than drink the club Kool-Aid. If I have any choice in the matter I will NOT ever again do GoLytely...MoviPrep is similar...two doses of one liter of go-go juice.

Re: 7 cm ovarian cyst

Hello... I don't want to say your wife's cyst is nothing or something...any person who is not a doctor and who has not fully examined your wife can make any determination without any degree of certainty. However, to ease your mind a bit, I have had similar experiences with various types of cysts on ...

Re: hello everyone!

Hello W's Wife! I'm new to this site too and it's great! :D I can relate...a doctor (not mine - I met her in a social situation) told me that my chemo induced nausea and vomiting was all in my head. I puked and asked her to hold my chuckie bag while I popped a Zofran... Unless people have gone throu...

Re: Bowel Symtoms for few weeks and worried

Hello Ginger, You have received some excellent advice here...I agree with everything Gaelen suggests, but most importantly, COLONOSCOPY!!! And seriously think about seeing a therapist to help with your stress and anxiety...stress and anxiety are the great enablers of health problems...hypertension, ...

Re: How many people here 1st to have CRC in your family?

I have never had any genetic testing done. Is that something they should automatically do? Hi Trish, You look great in the 2009 Colondar. Thanks for doing your part in spreading the word to young people about CRC :D Anyway...no, genetic testing is not something that is routinely done. Genetic testi...

Re: How many people here 1st to have CRC in your family?

Hello Mitchell, Hope all is well... Did you have genetic testing? If so, were your parents tested too? The reason I ask is because I have HNPCC, from my mom, who was tested after I received my positive test result. Subsequent to her testing her brother, my uncle, was tested and he tested positive al...

Re: Ladies - I need your help

Hello Ladies, I am a 44yo HNPCC positive gal, had Stage III cc in 2006 - had right hemicolectomy and 6 mo chemo-XELOX. Have had numerous problems with periods and gyno health issues since. I decided to go with the complete hysterectomy and bilateral sapingo oophorectomy (tubes & ovaries removed)...

Another perspective on the subject...

This article, while pointing out the realistic challenges of cancer research, it seems to offer more of a glass half full rather than a glass half empty point of view.

Re: An Important abeit painful Article

Perhaps outer space isn’t the final frontier…perhaps the final frontier is the human body… The 2009 federal budget provides funding to NASA of $18.1 billion, however funding to NCI (National Cancer Institute) through NIH (National Institutes of Health) is only $6 billion.
