Re: colonoscopy without anesthesia

I just got back home from having the colonoscopy. It was fascinating watching it live on a big screen. But there were times when it was very painful. Much worse than I expected. But the pain wasn't constant. There were many times of relief. I'm glad to have had the experience, but I'm not sure if I ...

colonoscopy without anesthesia

I'm considering not having anesthesia before my colonoscopy this week. Has anyone here done that and if so what was it like? This will be my second colonoscopy and this time I don't want to be groggy for hours afterward as well as would like to see what is going on. Hopefully I'll be able to see the...

Normal time frame for followup colonoscopy.

It's only been 8 months since my surgery to remove a tumor and resect my colon. (Right hemicolectomy). All margins were clear. My surgeon wants me to have another colonoscopy next week. Isn't that a little soon after surgery? I thought a year later would be about right. (I finished with 7 infusions ...

Re: Possibly Stopping Folfox after 6 Infusions

Thanks for the link. I looked through the posts but couldn't find what I was looking for, which is how much different does it feel to be off the Folfox and on another regimen. I especially would like to know if the fatigue is much less.

Re: Anything to avoid or relieve first bite pain after FOLFOX ?

I suck on ice during my infusion of Folfox and it greatly reduces first bite pain. There is also a a device (and possibly other brands) that are supposed to help: https://www.chemomouthpiece.com/

Possibly Stopping Folfox after 6 Infusions

My oncologist and I have been discussion possibly stopping Folfox after 6 infusions and finishing up with 6 more infusions of 5FU and whatever else is the regular protocol that doesn't contain Oxalilplatin. (Every two weeks) I'm curious if anyone here has stopped Oxaliplatin early like this but cont...

Re: cutting chemo before 6 infusions

I decided to just take a break and regroup. I canceled my treatment for tomorrow and will resume in 2 weeks. However, I still do not see myself doing 12 vs 6 (or possibly 7 or 8). To me the tiny extra benefit is not worth the risk of the side effects. In spite of all the shut downs and concerns abou...

Re: Cryotherapy to Prevent Neuropathy (Icing hands and feet and sucking on ice chips)

That's very similar to my experience, jts. Except I don't have any problems with my skin when my pump is disconnected. I see you are also a IIIC. I only had one bad node, but my tumor was a t4 and invaded my abdominal wall. May I ask what figures your oncologist gave you regarding odds of survival w...

Cryotherapy to Prevent Neuropathy (Icing hands and feet and sucking on ice chips)

I'm new to this board so I don't know if icing while receiving oxaliplatin has already been discussed. I was very concerned about neuropathy and did some searching and found some youtube videos about people using ice during their infusions. The theory is that the icing slows or restricts the blood f...

Re: How risky is it to take a chemo break?

Maybe I should be more specific in that has anyone who is Stage II or Stage III who was receiving chemotherapy told by their oncologist that it was ok to take a break?

Re: How risky is it to take a chemo break?

Hi Vincent, I noticed your sig reads you apply ice to hand feet during infusions. I have never heard of that as the oxaliplatin part of folfox causes cold sensitivity in up to 80% of patients. For myself being on folfox I go for IV vit C infusions, 25 grams, once a week then alternate the next week...

Re: How risky is it to take a chemo break?

Claudine, can you tell me how long of a break he would take or how long the oncologist said was ok? What I would like to do is skip over one infusion so there would be 4 weeks instead of two when/if I get my next infusion.

How risky is it to take a chemo break?

I am stage 3c and had a right hemicolectomy. I have taken 3 rounds of folfox every 2 weeks, and I really would like to take a break and skip my next infusion date so that if/when I do my next infusion it will be 4 weeks since the previous infusion. Would that have much of an effect on the efficacy o...

Re: Nomogram Predictive Tools--Are they accurate?

I would appreciate if we could go back to the original post and the nomogram tool linked in that post. This tool is far superior to the one later linked. I'm hoping some will consider putting in their own stats and letting me know if the results are consistent with what they were told by their oncol...
