Re: Post-chemo weight gain

Wow, I also had an anaphlactic shock response to my next-to-last oxaliplatin infusion - so I didn't end up doing the last one. Yes, drugs and all that played havoc with my thyroid and I put on weight, have struggled to get it off again. Though if I'm honest, I haven't struggled that much, just mostl...

Re: Calling all stage 4 survivors

HI everyone! I have just "passed" my 5 years following last chemo in 2009 (was dx'd in 2008). To answer your questions... Could those of you who have made it past the 5 years tell us what your oncologist thinks of your survival. To be honest, I don't think they even know why I'm still here...

Me again! Me still...

Hi everybody. It's been a while since I've stopped by. I suppose because since my last chemo finished in July 2009 I've been having ridiculously good luck with each PET scan being clear (so far so good!). So what could I say to you all? How could I be of any help? What good would it do if I just sho...

Re: Gaelen is no longer suffering

I met Pat here on this forum in August 2008, just after being diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, when all this was new to me and I was scared and looking for help and information. Pat had been diagnosed four years before me. She became my sister, my friend, my hero. I love her with all my heart a...

Re: Do you ever forget your port is there?

Have to say that the position of my port (pretty much smack dab between "the girls") was a bit of a stupid place for it. The surgeon said it was so I could still wear low cut tops. Duh. Anyhow, for ages I thought lying on my side and squashing the port between my boobs would somehow damage...

Re: Do you ever forget your port is there?

It's been almost two years and I don't notice it at all anymore. Can't remember when that happened, but after a week - like you - I was still pretty uncomfortable, though I think some of that was psychological. It'll get better.

Re: New Year's resolutions

This is turning into a great "No Resolutions" thread, jmarie. :) I shall join you and others in admitting that I've been crap at giving up things I know aren't good for me, and not doing enough of what I know would be good for me. Weirdly, I quit smoking a month or so before I had the emer...

Re: A fun quiz for patients: What kind of doc would you be?

I'd be a practical doctor, like Gaelen. Not surprisingly. You Would Be a Practical Doctor You're the kind of person who's concerned with facts and figures. As a doctor, you would be up on the latest research and take detailed notes about your patients. You would be just as concerned with keeping you...
