Re: Not tolerating Xeloda. Are there any options?

Thank you guys. I am (well, was) taking the pills as directed. Within 30 minutes after a meal. The doctor went with the pills to reduce my possible covid exposure. Pills I only go in every 3 weeks versus every 2 for folfox. I'm sure it's the Xeloda as it gets worse and worse the farther out from the...

Not tolerating Xeloda. Are there any options?

I've been having a really hard time with the adjuvent Chemo. The Oxaliplatin has been going ok but I've been having terrible reactions to the Xeloda pills. We have tried a few things including throwing all the anti-naseau drugs in the book at it and lowering the dosage but nothing seems to help. I s...

Re: Please help, input needed

Ugh, how do people do this? This is day 6 after my second infusion and I'm still puking and nauseated. I have to work if I don't want to be homeless and it's just so hard. I emailed the doctor to see if we can switch up the meds somehow so mornings aren't so horrible.

Re: Please help, input needed

Things are a little better. I think we may have found an appliance that will work for my ostomy. Wound nurse says I'm not the worst case she has had but in the top 5 :/ So anyway I slept through last night without leaking. I was up checking it every few hours but definitely got more sleep than I hav...

Re: Please help, input needed

I'm doing really poorly. I haven't slept much at all since the infusion and I'm trying to work today. Just got done vomiting in my office. This really doesn't feel sustainable. I feel like my body weighs a thousand pounds. I'm weak and shaky and can hardly think straight. I ache all over. Now I'm wo...

Re: Please help, input needed

First infusion went fine. They had an acupuncturist there too. I was surprised that I started having side effects before the infusion even ended. I really tolerated chemo during radiation well so I had my hopes up that this would be the same. I went to the bathroom towards the end of the infusion an...

Re: Scary times . . .

I'm starting chemo next week. The procedure will be a bit different because of covid. I'll be taking pills and coming in only once every 3 weeks for Oxaliplatin infusion.

Re: Please help, input needed

Thanks guys, chemo starts on the 18th. I'm still having pain issues. The pain isn't particularly bad it's just incessant I don't mind too much during the day but I've been having a hard time getting to sleep. I'm also having issues with the ileostomy appliance. Middle of the night leaks and allergic...

Re: Please help, input needed

I made it home yesterday. My stoma woke up and seems to be functional. Pain is still an issue, had a hard time getting to sleep last night but once I did I slept well. Being able to sit and lay in different positions has made all the difference in the world for the back pain I was experiencing, Wich...

Re: Please help, input needed

Still in the hospital. Still in tons of pain. They took the NG tube out yesterday. I've had a little clear liquids today. Really not doing well though.

It feels like the pain is never going to go away.

Re: Please help, input needed

They are going to give me some gabapentin and flexerall to help with the muscle pain. Why is it hurting so lmuch for so long. I haven't read anyone else having this kind of experience.

Re: Please help, input needed

They said I have to go to emergency to get more pain control. The though of getting up and into the car is too much.

Re: Please help, input needed

My whole world is pain right now. Surgery was Wednesday hot to my room at 8 pm on excruciating pain. Horrible back spasms. It took aged to get any pain meds and none of it seemed to work. They sent me home yesterday. I have 5 mg of oxy every and 1000 mg of Tylenol every 6 hours and it's just hardly ...

Re: Scary times . . .

Hang in there-it will be over soon. My prep went well, but like you, I had to get up at 3:30 am to head to the hospital. Once I got there all went smoothly. They gave me a nerve block in pre-op and that worked really well. Haven’t had any real pain yet. Best wishes for a good experience and speedy ...
