Re: anti-depressant recommendations

Wow. Jerks abound. I'm so sorry to hear that you had to endure his presence at all, let alone his abandonment. Break-ups are tough even when, and sometimes especially when, the guy turns out to be a jerk. I have found anti-depressants to be my lifeline. I second Terry's experience with Paxil - it ma...

Re: did anyone see that truck????

My first day 3 was like that. But they gave me compazine as an anti-nausea drug and it just made things worse for me. So I thought the same thing you are thinking: How the @#$%!* do I do this for 6 months?!?!!! My next day 3 was much better with different anti-nausea drugs. The fatigue is like nothi...

Re: This resentment thing

I don't have any words of wisdom, just commiseration. I just lost a friend today because she's angry that I didn't attend her daughter's wedding a month ago (I was out of town with husband and sons) nor did I attend her other daughter's graduation party FOUR YEARS AGO. Yes. That's what I said. She's...

Re: Rollin' to Colon 2010

Molly - thanks for the reminder that this was Holly's brainchild. Yes, indeed, she coordinated the first one in March, maybe 4, 5, or 6 years ago? And, yes, indeed, snow occurred. That's Nebraska weather for you. March can bring anything at all, which is why we opted to schedule this one in June. Gr...

Re: Another Newbie here

Welcome, but I know it stinks to be here. Just a note about being a young-ish mom with CC. I was 41 1/2 when diagnosed, and I had started a little late with the baby-making, so I had an 18-month-old son at the time of my diagnosis. I completed treatment in July and got pregnant with my younger son i...

And the larger lesson is that life goes on. You were BIKING to work! Way to go! After what you've been through, biking to work should not even be in your vocabulary much less on your itinerary. You are an inspiration to all! Thanks for sharing your undy and potty...um...situation. ;)

Re: Hoping this is nothing. And having a caring doc.

Such a tough situation! I'm not sure we ever really laugh at our own anxiety, because it comes from a very real place of terror in our hearts. This thing called cancer is unpredictable and wily. Let's just hope you can be even more wily and get excellent results!

Re: I am fried! What gives relief?

This is way off topic of radiation, but my son's skin is very sensitive and we only use Vanicream on him. I get it at our local grocery store. I don't know that it would do anything at all for radiation burn, but thought I'd put it in the mix for you. Ouch! So sorry for your pain! I can't imagine it...

Re: my VEIN EXPLODED?!?!

Don't you love how they very casually blow your mind with these comments? One of my nurses was trying to access my port and was having trouble. She very casually said, "I think your port flipped." My whuh did huh? Can they do that? Yes, indeed, they can. Mine hadn't that time, but it did l...

Rollin' to Colon 2010

This exciting event is hosted by the Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force and Wear Yellow Nebraska and features varying cycling distances beginning in Valley, N...

Re: Ladies: after chemo when did your menstruation return?

My period stopped completely once I started chemo (FOLFOX). It returned as normal as can be within 3 months of completing chemo. I was pregnant 4 months after completing chemo, and welcomed my healthy, happy baby boy one year and one month after the completion of chemo. I am now a mom to Vincent, ag...

ENJOY! And thanks for sharing the good news! I got pregnant 4 months after FOLFOX ended, and my healthy and happy son is now 13 months old. These little ones have a way of pushing us along and making us take great strides when we don't feel we can. ENJOY! Melissa dx Dec 2006 at age 41 FOLFOX Jan-Jul...
