Re: Are Phase I clinical trials worth it?

My hubby decided to start testing for the phase 1 trial. We had a bit of a rough few days...he is currently in the hospital recovering from kidney failure. He had a ureter stent put in on the left side 6 months ago due to a compressed ureter. It was replaced last week but this weekend he started hav...

Are Phase I clinical trials worth it?

My hubby just hit 7 1/2 years since he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer when he was 38. It has been a very long road. In the beginning, things went pretty well with just a few big issues. The cancer was well managed and he was doing fine. Three years ago we found out that the cancer had spre...

Re: TAS 102 trial diary

My hubby ended up completing 3 months of TAS. His CEA went up the most after he 1st month. The second month it went up to 1383 (from around 400) and the 3rd month it ended up at 1413. He had a 3 month CT scan last week and we get the results on 9/8. We are not hopeful for good news since the CEA is ...

Re: TAS 102 trial diary

My hubby just finished his 2nd round of TAS-102 last week. His CEA to start out was around 440 and after the 1st round it went to 1307! We were shocked! He goes back on 8/3 for another CEA check to see if it goes down. The doc said that he has seen this before after the 1st cycle and it sometimes go...

900 pt CEA jump after 1 cycle of trial TAS-102

I can't seem to find too much on the forum about the clinical trial TAS-102. All other chemo treatments were no longer working for my husband so he was put on the trial 1 month ago. His CEA before starting was 442 which is high for him. After 1 round of the trial it jumped to 1307 which is simply sh...

Oxi allergy today..what happens now??

It has been a very long time since I have posted here. My hubby has sure been through the cancer ringer over the past 1.5 years. He barely survived HIPEC in 5/13 after suffering respiratory failure and sepsis that kept him in the hospital for 10 weeks. A month later, we found out that a lot of cance...

My husband has been off of chemo for over 3 years. His cancer had always been localized to the liver until they found it in the peritoneum.

40 days post HIPEC/out of ICU, still in hospital

My hubby was finally moved out of ICU 3 days ago. He has the trach now but is off the ventilator. He has gone from 8 IV pumps going to only 1 at night for TPN. His lungs still have a lot of healing to do but is making progress every day. The best part was that 2 days ago he was moved to a long term ...

29 days post HIPEC - still in ICU

This is ongoing from my other posts of __ days post HIPEC. He is still in ICU with no idea of when he will be out. He is in a much better place then he was a week ago. His sepsis is well managed and his lungs are slowly improving from the ARDS. They tried again to remove the breathing tube a few day...

24 days post HIPEC - still in ICU but getting better

Hi all, I have other posts here about my hubby's HIPEC adventure. We are now 24 days out and he is still in ICU but slowing improving. He was diagnosed with ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and sepsis. He was placed on a ventilator again about 8 days ago and is doing much better. His fever...
