Re: Adenomatous Colon Polyps Question

Very sorry if I'm repeating what others have written, but I'm sort of in a hurry, and don't have time to read all the previous posts :) Anyway, I was clinically diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer & FAP (which is characterized by numerable pre-cancerous polyps). At first I was told I was inope...

looking for other stageIV's with many liver mets + lung mets

Hi :) Chemo hasn't been doing it's job for me, and i'm getting ready to start 3rd line treatment, Avastin + Xeloda. The tumors have been progressing what I feel is quite quickly.... 1 lung met went from 4mm to 20mm (2cm) in less than 2 months! My liver has numersous mets, all of which have grown sub...

Re: more bad results and starting to feel sad & scared....

Because i have the gene mutation, unfortunately Erbitux wouldn't benefit me. I have asked the oncologist again as to why i don't try Iritecan again with the avastin and xeloda. I did have 1 new liver tumor appear while on it previously, but all others shrunk.... confusing.

Thanks for your replys!!!

Re: Hi there, new member Stage IV rectal 33 yrs

I just sent you a PM as well, but i forgot to write that I completely agree with what you said about how you can't control the news, just the way you handle it. I always try to remember that being upset or mad won't change the reality of the situation, and I'm better off being happy. I think it help...

Re: more bad results and starting to feel sad & scared....

Thanks again for all the replies!!! Yes, I definately agree Avastin should have been used in my 1st line treatment, though didn't spend much time worrying about it as it will just make me frustrated bout something I unfortunately can't change. I'm hoping it will still work now, even though I know it...

Re: Stage IV for Almost 2 Years...More Treatment Options?

Hi Ellen, I can understand how you're feeling, as I'm in the exact same situation!!! Please let me know if you want to talk. Sometimes it's nice to know there's others out there going through what you are :) I'm in a hurry now, but will write again later! I've stayed so positive, and I still am, but...

Re: more bad results and starting to feel sad & scared....

Thanks for all the replys! :) Unfortunately, I'm definately not eligible for surgery. I did initially have a great responsce to oxaliplatin the first time I used it for 6 cyles, after I was first diagnosed. I had a mixed response with irinitecan. I will only be taking Xeloda with Avastin. Has anyone...

Re: BAD NEWS

Hi Jessica :D I've also just been given similar bad news!!! I've just recently got the lung mets, but I do have numerous liver mets, and 1 lymph node too. I just tried Oxali again for a second time, and unfortunately it didn't work for me the 2nd time after working excellent the first time! :( I hav...

more bad results and starting to feel sad & scared....

It hasn't been the greatest start to my new year, as I got more bad CT resutls today. CT confirmed that the chemo isn't working. I now have 2 mets in my lung (biggest 2cm), and the numerous mets in my liver have increased in number and size (largest mass 8cm). I also have 1 lymph node which shows on...

Re: Anyone else here have a J-pouch?

I got my ileostomy reversal about 2.5 months ago. I had the ileostomy bag for about 9 months. So far my reversal has been good. Except I have had some pretty bad cramping in the rectal area.

Re: this has been a hard day

I started losing my hair slowly (thinning) on irinetican. First I just cut it short, but that doesn't really help with the thinning, so it didn't look very good. Finally I broke down and shaved it, and after I did I wished I hadn't waited so long. For me, it was a million times better shaved than th...

Hi Jessica :) I was diagnosed in June 07, and am also considered "inoperable". Send me a PM anytime and please ask me anything you'd like or I'm here to listen too if that's what you need. I hope your treatments are going well, and you're keeping your spirits up! :)

Re: Port vs. IV

Thanks for all the great replies! I wish I would have got a port along time ago now. They always have trouble getting my line in, and once it even took 5 tries. It doesn't really hurt, but just makes me very anxious! And the oxali definately doesn't feel good on the arm either.
