endoscopy Capsule with illeostomy?

I went for my check up after finishing up chemo for 4 month and had an endoscpy done as it has been a year since mylast one (I have FAP, so need at least 1/yr). It showed some polyphs, but they want to now do a capsule endoscopy where it takes pictures of the whole small intestines and stomach. I ha...

Re: Mouth sores

Mouth Sore man to save the day! lol. I am an expert after 12 rounds of chemo recently completed and I had mouth sore troubles alot. At one point I had one on each side and couldn;t eat anything but soup. Sucked for 2 days. Baking soda and salt mixture, (1/2 tsp of each) will only neutralize it, but ...

Re: why????

First off Life is not fair whether it comes to CC or alot of things IMO. Why do companies and execs get bonuses or bail outs when they caused the mess today? But anyways, i know you are depressed about the whole possibility of what it may be. But don't get sad untl you find out more specifics. After...

Re: Planning on liver&lung resection

I had a liver resection which removed 60% of my liver and recovered in 6 weeks to start post suegery for 4 months. I did have a spot on my lung prior to my presurgery chemo, but it disapered prior to surgery (guess chemo attacked it). But my surgeon did recommend doing the surgeries seperate (maybe ...

Re: Working During Treatment

I had a total removal of my colon and took off 2 months before going back to work part time. But I did not have a long commute. But I did find it therapuetic to have a sense of purpose even though I was tired some days. I would explore the option as some companies like it when you try to make it bac...

Re: Newly Diagnosed

Welcom eto the board. You are rught as you will find alot of caring people with a wealth of knowledge to help you through the process. My best advice to you is (1) Be Strong (2) Never ask why me? (it is pointless) and keep a positive attitude as it is every bit a part of the fight as the chemo/opera...

Re: Exercise after Chemo? Too much, too fast?

I am goign through chemo right now and do some light exercise 3X a week during off chemo weeks and 2X during chemo weeks. I do some light lifting and some running on the treadmill. Just like 1 mile or less when I do. It helps out during chemo as my energy level is down. Check with your doc as everyo...

Re: bowels aren't moving

Hello Guest, I had several issues with bowel after surgey and during chemo. they mostly had to do with the pain medications they gave me (any narcotics). If they gave me narcotics it would slow it to nothing to the point i had Nausea and vomitted for a day or so until drugs out my system. So, I avoi...

Re: How sick do you get on Folfiri?

Dont get too sick. The Anzemet keeps the nausea down along with dexa something (steroids). Its the hiccups and fatigue that get me. Otherwise, not as bad as the FOLFOX regiment.

Re: Changing ileostomy bag

Night before, I try to eat less at dinner and more at lunch. Then there is less activity in the morning when I change it. In the morning, before I eat, I cut the hole in the wafer to size and lay out everything. Then I remove the bag to shower. I imediately put a couple kleenex on it when I come out...

Re: Pain meds for liver resection

I opted for Codeine, but it did not do much, so I stopped using it a day after my release from the hospital. I found that most of the narcotic drugs slowed my stomach to a crawl or completely to the point I was vomitting. So, I essentially used Advil around the clock for a week. I found it worked pr...

Re: is an MRI better or just as good as CT scan?

try asking for 3D CT scans as they provide as much detail as a MRI and are less evasive (less barium). not sure if less radiagtion though. YOu may want to ask.

Re: Is this barium prep too much for a CT scan???

I have had 4 CT scans this year and hated the barium the most no matter what flavor they gave me. I had to drink one bottle an hour before the scan with no food or water 8 hours before the scan. This last time, i went to Johns Hopkins for it and they gave a 3D CT scan where all I had to do was fast ...

Re: abdominal pain after surgery

I had abdominal pain after my surgery and especially when I started eatng. I had tylenol with codeine for the pain. And then I had gas-X with meals until my stomach/intestines got used to eating again. This went on for the first 2 weeks after surgery.
