I am now five years cancer free after my lung recurrence

Hello all, I joined this forum seven years ago being stage 3C. I had a lung recurrence with a single lung met, and had lung surgery five years ago to remove the met (no follow up chemo). Today I got the news that my latest CT scan was normal, and I am now five years cancer free. The doctors will sto...

Re: NED 4.5 year after lung recurrence

Thank you! Lydia666: I had a unilateral mastectomy with delayed reconstruction (no chemo for the breast cancer as is usual for DCIS) tigerpaw: No, my CEA didn't rise when I had mediastinal lymph node enlargement (and also pelvic lymph node enlargement). But my CEA was never that high to begin with, ...

NED 4.5 year after lung recurrence

4.5 years ago I had surgery to remove two pulmonary nodules, one of them was cancerous. I just got the results of my twice-yearly scan - I am still NED (CT and CEA normal). My story is in my signature - I was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer almost seven years ago. My doctor wants me to do one m...

4 years after lung met, and still no evidence of disease

Four years and two months ago, I had surgery on my lung and they removed a small met from my colon cancer. All scans later have been clear, without evidence of disease, and my CEA is low. I personally have started to believe that I am long term disease-free, that the cancer is gone (and my doctors a...

Re: Still longterm NED after a lung met

Tigerpaw: so are you a Norwegian-Norwegian as well? Hei! Your English is better than mine :-) Yes, there isn't "strong" evidence of anything when it comes to lung metastasectomy - even the metastasectomy itself is not really proven with a high level of evidence (no randomized controlled tr...

Re: Still longterm NED after a lung met

Lordswood77: it was advised. (By my doctors here in Norway - who are generally more conservative / stick to what is proven /late to implement new treatment methods... than my American doctors. I got the diagnosis and initial treatment while living in the States, but moved back home to Norway soon af...

Re: Still longterm NED after a lung met

Thank you! Crazylife: my impression is that it's common to watch and wait a bit after a pulmonary nodule is found. In my case, the doctors weren't sure if the nodule seen was indeed a met (I had another small nodule that had been there all along during chemo, not changing size. It was later removed ...

Still longterm NED after a lung met

Hello, I check in here every six months after my scans (but I often come in to read). I got the results today that I still have no evidence of disease 3 years and 8 months after lung metastasectomy, six years after my initial diagnosis of stage III C colon cancer. My CEA is also still low at 0.7. My...

Re: Longterm NED after lung met

Thanks!

Yes, I've had too many scares! Two surgeries on the ovaries because of suspicious cysts, and swollen mediastinal lymph nodes with false positive pet-scans (a biopsy showed Sarcoidosis, not cancer). Only recently have I started to relax a bit.

Longterm NED after lung met

Hello, I just wanted to share some good news: I got my scan results today. No evidence of disease, CEA 0.6. The doctor was very optimistic regarding my long term prognosis, being over three years NED. (The met was first visible on scans March 2012, removed October 2012). I come here to update becaus...

Diagnosed with stage 3C CC five years ago today

Five years ago, I woke up from a colonoscopy to a diagnosis of colon cancer. There was no doubt, I was near full blockage. A couple of days later I recieved a diagnosis of DCIS breast cancer and was told my colon resection would be followed by a mastectomy before chemo. The colon cancer had spread t...

NED 2 1/2 yrs after lung met, new diagnosis of sarcoidosis

Hi, I come here often to read, and I am touched by all the new people here. So many so young, it´s heartbreaking, but also inspiring to see how smart and compassionate the members here are. I wanted to check in to share some good news - it´s now been 2 1/2 years since I had a metastasectomy for a lu...

Had oophorectomy - no cancer!

I don't post here often, but I wanted to share some good news. I had my remaining ovary removed laprascopically last week. Today I got the pathology results back: everything was normal! It had to come out because of out because of a growing, orange-size cyst on the ovary. It looked like a normal ben...

NED two years after surgery for lung recurrence

Dear friends, I come in here to check almost daily, but it has been a while since I have been active here. I am so sorry to see so many wonderful people suffering, but also happy to see many of the old names, many doing well. Today I got the results from my two year scan after surgery for a lung met...
