Re: Need signet ring cell help

I'm sorry your doctor responded that way. You might consider getting a new one if that is an option for you. I had stage IIIC SRC colon cancer. I did not have a full hysterectomy, but I did have both ovaries removed at age 43. It was not that long after finishing chemo and I had atypical looking ova...

Good news!

I just found out my recent scan was clear! Two weeks from now will have been five years since surgery and my oncologist used the word "cured" today. I'm not sure I quite believe that, but I will celebrate just the same! She will continue to see me every six months for a while and I will pr...

Re: Waiting is the pits!!

Hang in there. Waiting *is* the pits! (I am waiting for scan results myself). I hope you get your results soon and that they are nice and normal. Also hope the other issues your having get resolved quickly and easily.

Re: wishful thinking on lymph nodes from a newbie

Best wishes to folks waiting for or just getting pathology results. I had a ton of lymph nodes and I am fast approaching five years NED, so there is plenty of hope. Hang in there.

Re: scanxiety today..... feel for all in the same boat

Good luck to everyone scanning this week! I had my scan on Tuesday and I'm getting results Monday morning. I think I'm a bit more nervous than has been my "usual" for the last few scans. I'm weeks away from being five years out from surgery, which means my odds of having a good result are ...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Currently waiting for results of my five year scan. That's five years since diagnosis and surgery, not since finishing chemo. If this scan is clear, my oncologist plans to cut me loose and have my general practitioner take care of me. I'm a little nervous, but I don't know how much of my nervousness...

Re: stage III ers

I'm just getting ready for my five year scan. I was diagnosed in May 2008 and I've been NED ever since surgery (knocking on wood). If this upcoming scan is clear, my oncologist plans to "fire" me, which is a bit scary, but awesome just the same! I have not logged on much recently because I...

Re: signet ring genetic

Yeah, I've wondered about it too, but I guess they don't test everyone who gets CRC at younger ages. It may be an entirely different story at your step-son's age though. I've worried about whether I am susceptible to other cancers because of this, but I try not to over-worry (which is very hard for ...

Re: signet ring genetic

I'm so glad to hear that your step-son is responding to treatment! I had signet ring colon cancer and I've asked my oncologist about genetic testing. She never indicated that the SRC cancer is any more likely to be genetic, but I think it is true that CRC in younger patients is more likely to be gen...

Heh, you made me log in. I seldom post here anymore because I have moved on in many ways. I do post occasionally when I feel like I have something to add. Read my signature. I was diagnosed with IIIC colon cancer in 2008 and have not had a recurrence (knocking on wood). There is plenty of hope for y...

Re: Chemo brain?

It's hard to say whether those symptoms are from chemo or stress, but I felt like my lack of focus and fogginess was from the chemo. I hope you see some improvement soon.

Re: Has therapy helped....?.any special kind of therapist

Hi,

Yes, I kind of melted down with all the stress after my diagnosis. I found a therapist and working with her has been enormously helpful. I was not able to find anyone who worked specifically with cancer patients, but it was still a good fit.

Best of luck to you,
Dori

Hi Janet,

I wanted to respond sooner, but I couldn't find words to express how sorry I am that this is happening to you and Lauren and your family. I am so very sorry. Sending love and light and prayers to all of you.
