Re: Is it back?

Thanks all! I'll reply to some of the above and give an update from my Dr apt Friday. I live in Central Florida. I've requested an appointment at Moffitt to review all of my scans. Thanks for the reassurance that this is not overkill! Regarding my original comment about the scans: I had to review t...

Re: Newbie here - chemo help / advice

I had 9 rounds of Folfox in 2020, I can honestly say the main side effect was extreme fatigue. Lost most of my hair and 40 pounds due to lack of appetite, but I was never nauseated. I developed neuropathy during my last round (hands and feet). It will be 3 years in November and they have improved. ...

Re: Is there anything I can do before, during and after Chemotherapy to improve outcome?

I am a little late to this thread, but can share my anecdotes about adjuvant FOLFOX. They're about the same as what other people have posted. ⋅  Adjuvant chemo absolutely sucks, but it has an end, and that is something to be thankful for. ⋅  My oncologist told me that delaying th...

CEA went down!

Now for something completely different... My CEA went down two months in a row. Yeah, I'd prefer if it weren't still above the threshold of normal, but after monotonically increasing every month since my primary tumor was removed, I'll take it!

Re: Unusual To Go From Zero To Nine Lung Nodules In 6 Months?

I read about this a little when they found my lung met. Lung met doubling time for CRC can be as little as about 30 days, which it was in my case. Here's a random paper where they find a median doubling time of about 66 days, but a pretty wide range: "Impact of Surgical Resection on Metachronou...

Re: Lung Recurrence Treatment Plan

Last year I had a PET/CT that discovered a 5-6 mm lung met. It was actually the CT part of the scan that discovered it, because it did not show up on the PET. Going back to my old scans, the radiologist could show it was growing steadily for about 9 months, but had never been formally noted. There w...

Re: Vitamin C infusion to help with neuropathy

I'm not into the IV Vitamin C thing, so I don't have any advice about how to get the infusions. But the problem you're describing sounds more like the "hand-foot" syndrome that you get with 5FU chemotherapy, not neuropathy. The inflammation in your hands and feet generally gets worse right...

Re: Annoying indecisive PET

According to what my onc tells me, that is too small to be accurately read by a PET. Thanks. Yes, I asked about that, but my onc recommended to go ahead and do it (the PET scan). Before corona it was common for the radiologists here to chat for a couple minutes about the scan and point out what the...

Re: Advice about resection and reconnection

Thanks to everyone who posted in the tread. I'm not the OP, but this is great information. I was also 3b RC. I have a temporary iletomy, and 18 months after my surgery I'm still reluctant to get it reversed. The main thing in my case was, for the first 6 months I was on chemo. Then they found a met ...

Annoying indecisive PET

In December I had an abdominal MRI that revealed a 5 mm thing in my liver. The radiologist considered it a cyst, but from what I've been told, at that size it's really hard to classify. Looking at my old CT scans it had appeared in the last 4-6 months. Last week I had a PET/CT scan. The radiologist ...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

I have a similar problem ATM. A MRI in December showed a 5mm thing in my liver that the radiologist judged to be a cyst. Looking at my most recent CT scans, the thing is clearly visible (once you know it's there), but in the CT it's just a slightly darker spot in one slice. In the MRI you can make o...

Re: PET scan results/your input please

I had a PET-CT about 6 months after surgery because of rising CEA. The site of the operation also lit up the PET. The radiologist said that's normal and not to worry about it. They still will do colonoscopies to watch for local recurrences. If there is something suspect on your scan, is there any wa...

Re: First bad scan

Thank you for the responses. After meeting with a couple surgeons I had the lung tumor removed about 2 weeks ago. They removed the drain the day after surgery, and after that I fell pretty much OK, and was able to go back to normal life after about 3 days. They took out only one lymph node and it wa...

Re: First bad scan

So I got the official report after this scan. The one lung thingy is the only one they found. I've had 5 Ct scans now, and they were able to see evidence of it in each one. I went back and looked carefully at the scans, and I can see it pretty obviously in the last three. The tumor size is about: 08...

Re: First bad scan

Just a wee something to encourage you . It’s horrible to hear something may have travelled to another organ . My mum had one solitary met removed back in 2016. Doing just great . Take the time you need to get to grips with this and then you can move forward to removing it whilst it is small and man...
