Re: Smell of Cancer ?

My dog, after my 4th or 5th round of Folfox, wouldn't come near me. I finished mid March, and he is still scared of me. He's starting to come around a bit now, which corresponds with the slight improvement in my peripheral neuropathy. A funny thing is, he is a different dog outside and wants to play...

Re: How long between radiation and surgery

I had mine at 10 weeks, after 6 weeks of 5fu and radiation. I had a complete response, just a small scar where the tumor was. It's my understanding that waiting is better, because there are residual effects from the initial treatment, that continue to shrink the tumor for 10-12 weeks. In addition, I...

How about:

Don't Poo-Poo Colo-rectal Cancer, Get Screened!

or

Shit Happens, So Does Colo-rectal Cancer, Get Screened!

You could also add the tag line, Or It May Be The Last Thing You Don't Do!

Re: Loss of Taste Buds?

I just had round six of FOLFOX Monday, And i really miss tasting food and cold drinks. I've been fortunate to not have mouth sores yet, so I tend to salt and spice my food up. I to can eat things much more spicy than before, the only problem is it can get a little painful on the way out.

Re: Chemo effects, anyone else suffer longer than norm?

Hi Becky, Just so you know, I'm a 5' 11 and 210 lbs remodeling contractor. I've played sports all my life, I still race off-road motorcycles. I had asthma as a kid and spent many night struggling to breath. I tore my ACL and meniscus in 2008 and was going up and down our stairs 5 minutes after getti...

Re: Chemo effects, anyone else suffer longer than norm?

Hi Becky, I think everybody metabolises their chemo differently, so their experience is their own. I've got my 6th round of FLOFOX on Monday, and I'm not looking forward to it. The first few rounds were ok, but by the fourth rd I started getting vision changes and vertigo the first two day, which us...

Weird FOLFOX side effect

Hi All, I haven't posted much on here, mostly I have lurked, using this forum as a source of information and inspiration. I was just reading on here about dogs smelling rectal cancer and it brought to mind an issue I've been dealing with since round four of my FOLFOX treatments. I have three dogs, m...

Re: Neoadjuvant rad/chemo success rate - anyone know the stats?

Hi Hilda, I did six weeks of Rad and 5fu starting in July 2010, and had a complete response. I had a Transanal Excision in Nov 3, and started an adjuvant course of FOLFOX towards the end of Nov. With the Transanal Excision you you don't get the benefit of pathology on the lymph nodes, so the adjuvan...

Re: Side Effect Question

I have my 5th FOLFOX treatment scheduled on Mon. After 3 and 4, I noticed a vertigo type feeling, blurred peripheral vision for a few days and a problem adjusting from close to a distance (looking a dashboard to the road). After the fourth one, along with the previous side effects, I noticed problem...
