Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

Anyone else worry about every little action they take (or don’t take) ? Not enough walking/ working out that week, too much sugar, not enough greens, forgot to drink my green tea... it’s exhausting. Ksue Yes! I wanted to get a chocolate keratin treatment on my hair and of course, I'm reading into e...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

Honestly I’m afraid of a higher dose. That’s probably silly. But I guess there’s no sense in putting these chemicals in my body if I’m not going to have the dose strong enough to give me that minimal yield. I will ask first thing Monday. My pills should be arriving Wednesday. Jacques, you sure you’r...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

I was unable to get the actual script because I have to go through a specialty pharmacy. Also, NY they tend to not give out scripts anymore. They send them straight to the pharmacy. I asked the specialty pharmacy what they received??? I'm shocked now to discover they have two scripts 500mg(3 big pil...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

I think that you'd like Dana Farber. They're more like an assembly line for medicine. I'm still treated nicely and I'm not rushed. I have the doctors full attention at appointments. And I'm seen on time for the most part. I just don't want all that extra. MSK depressed me a bit. I want to feel like...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

For one, where are you getting 125 mg. tablets? Normally Xeloda/capecitabine is issued only in 150mg and 500mg tablets. Another thing is that this dose looks to me like it is way off the dose level that should be given to a 160 lb, 5'3" person. Did MSKCC have anything to say about that? Before...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

(unless you are absolutely tiny) Hope all went well at MSK. Tiny! HA! I'm actually quite hefty. 5'3 160bs. He did ask for height and weight and I didn't get the dose wrong because he said it a few times and I wrote it down. Also, I priced it and was happy to find that I can get brand for $5. The MS...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

Update: Got some clarity last night at the ONC's office. • I am moderately differentiated not poorly differentiated. Correction on his part. • As for stats, he quoted that from his head???. He said what he should have said was 1 in 4 people have a reoccurrence in my situation. • As for the drug tre...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

Robster, going in with my questions this evening. One last thing. What significance does EMVI have on this situation?

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

EMVI should be on the surgery pathology report, in the same section where LVI and PNI are reported. For sake of completeness, it should also say how many lymph nodes were taken and tested (eg 0 out of X lymph nodes positive). If less than 12 were sampled, this is also a high risk factor (regardless...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

Wow, thanks Robster. That helps a lot. All was familiar so I know others here have given me the same info just not all in once place. Poorly differentiated cancer cells (also known as ‘high grade’ or ‘grade 3’ cells) is considered a high risk factor, which may explain why oxaliplatin is being offere...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

Thank Jacques... #1 So Robster had me thinking that maybe I missed something. I'm going to stop back in the ONC office again tomorrow and ask the questions on staging and treatment. I went through the results with my husband and he said the only thing I didn't have in the notes above was that the ON...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

NHMIKe says: ]Oxaliplatin is rough, especially if you live in a colder area and you're going to be taking it in the winter. You can also get permanent side=effects though you'd only be doing it for three months. Thanks, NHMike, the ONC says, the three-month treatment is set right under the ti...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

My meeting with the oncologist was not bad. He explained everything and said to come back in one week to tell him which option I choose. This is based on the fact that some of the cancer cells may have escaped and got into the liver. I have the following options: #1 – Do Nothing. He says out of 100 ...
