Re: Ostomy site pain and output

Thanks for your reply. I have no experience at all with permanent ostomies, only with a temp ileostomy. I think you would be better off listening to people with permanent ostomies, but I can mention a few things here that pertained to my temp ileo. 1. Size of meals - I was told to have only small m...

Re: Ostomy site pain and output

Hello All, back with another question... DH next PET scan is due this month/early January. But in the mean time he is having some achyness and dull pain after eating large meals only. Just feels normal full after a regular size meal. He does have a large hernia at the ostomy site so we hope that is...

5 month scan

Still waiting on results of husband's 5 month PET scan... he occasionally has the hiccups when he eats or drinks and last night his arms and legs were itchy(first time it happened and it is already gone) . I know these can be signs of liver mets. His pathology from surgery 5 months ago was stage 2 l...

Recurrence questions

I am worried his cancer is returning. He has his 6 month scan is in 2 weeks and an appointment for results 2 weeks after that. He returned to work (after 10 months off) in late May. This was also the same time he had his 4 month CEA of 0.9. As of yesterday we realized his appetite has slightly decre...

Re: HELP! Post surgery pain

Everyone thank you! We just made it back home an hour ago and his pain is gone. He ended up passing some stool and gas and bam no more pain. So he will be taking some milk of magnesium and miralax for awhile to make sure he doesn't get bound up again! I have had so many questions here and I hope one...

Re: HELP! Post surgery pain

Hi Marie— I hope your husband is feeling better, figuring out what the issue is. I can share a few experiences from my own situation—I had the same surgery a little over four years ago. I don’t know how long his pain lasted or it’s specifics, but I absolutely recall the jarring, completely out of n...

HELP! Post surgery pain

Husband's APR surgery was about 17 days ago. Yesterday he had severe pain in belly area. Oxycodone and tylenol did not relieve it. We are now at our local ER and they are refusing to look at him and want to send him by ambulance to Mayo Clinic (6 hours away). We are going to drive ourselves in a few...

Re: When do you feel back to normal? Surgery soon. NED? Please read Looking for insight

Oh sorry I missed that it was your husband in your signature. Is his tumor super low? My mom had short course radiation but got the temp ileo and got it reversed about 3 months later. Yes it's pretty low and possibly invading part of the sphincter muscle. The goal is definitely to cure him s0 some ...

Re: When do you feel back to normal? Surgery soon. NED? Please read Looking for insight

Hi! Your post caught my eye because your treatment plan seems identical to my mom’s who also had hers at Mayo. Will you be getting a temporary ileo? Who is your surgeon if I may ask? My mom was told she did not need additional chemo beyond the 8 neoadjuvant cycles of Folfox she received before radi...
