Re: Reversal anxiety

Agree, jts, that the ileostomy is kind of a drag, but it's great having the predictability and control. And I was also getting quite good at the fine art of changing the bag! Enjoy the rest of the summer and good luck with your reversal. And NH Mike, you can be sure I took note of all of the advice ...

Reversal anxiety

So, I am scheduled for my ileostomy reversal this Tuesday. I think I have done everything I can to prepare - reading posts in this forum and following links to additional information regarding tips for managing varying degrees of LARS, which of course I am hopeful that I will not experience (wishful...

Re: Just got diagnosed - advice appreciated

Yes, I agree about the great customer service. I was always able to get most appointments scheduled at my convenience. Just yesterday morning I was worried about the skin around my stoma so I emailed photos to the surgeon's office and the office manager forwarded the email to the appropriate people ...

Re: Just got diagnosed - advice appreciated

If you live in the NYC area I highly recommend MSK. I am very happy with the treatment I am receiving there. My oncologist is Dr. Geoffrey Ku.
Hope this helps a little. I am happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Re: Please help, input needed

I am so sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. It does get better, and walking really helps. The hardest part for me is getting up off the couch, but once I get my legs going everything feels a little better. I hope you have already gotten some relief and are starting to feel better.

Re: Scary times . . .

Hang in there-it will be over soon. My prep went well, but like you, I had to get up at 3:30 am to head to the hospital. Once I got there all went smoothly. They gave me a nerve block in pre-op and that worked really well. Haven’t had any real pain yet. Best wishes for a good experience and speedy r...

Re: Scary times . . .

Hi Stu, Not much to report as I head into surgery next Tuesday. A few weeks ago, I had a nice call with one of the nurses who walked me through the whole preparation routine. Earlier this week, the office called again to tell me that I had to get a COVID-19 test 48 hours before surgery; that's sched...

Re: Scary times . . .

Same for me, Ulendon. My LAR is scheduled for Tuesday, 4/14. The hospital's new policy is no visitors at all, so we will be "alone together."

Wishing you all the best - I will be thinking of you on Wednesday!

Re: Generic Zophran films

HI,
I used generic Zofran (ondansetron 8mg tablets) when I was on Folfox. I didn't have any issues with it, and it did keep my nausea in check. I only needed to take about 3 or 4 pills, for each cycle of Folfox, so I may not be a good example.

Re: What is radiation/chemo treatment actually like?

Thank you, everyone, for sharing your tips and experiences. I am also starting 28 rounds of chemo/rad on 12/18. I already got the tattoos, and was supposed to have a set-up appointment with the radiation technician last Friday, but insurance denied the imrt procedure. So now on Monday, my radiation ...
