Re: Treatment break - advice sought!

Rob,
I will do Folfox now. If you are young and healthy, I would do the most aggressive treatment you can tolerate. Take B12, do acupuncture and buy a foot massager machine for neuropathy.

Re: Stage 4 - liver mets disappeared

Same here. My husband is on maintenance chemo Xeloda plus Avastin ( Xeloda 10 days on, 10 days off and Avastin every 3 weeks) for two years. While his medical oncologist strongly insists on continuing this regimen to prevent recurrence (because of his extensive liver involvement with 12 lesions), hi...

Re: Anyone Managing Stage IV with Avastin Only?

Hi Mattie, My husband is on Xeloda plus Avanstin maintenance for about two years. We are also so scared for the recurrence if quit or drop one of them. Can you share why you dropped Xeloda? And how often you get Avanstin infusion currently? My husband gets Avanstin every 3 weeks now but his oncologi...

Re: Question about Xeloda scheduling/timing differences

My husband is on 3000 mg per day (3 of 500mg pills in the morning and 3 pills after dinner), 10 days on and 10 days off. Plus Avastin infusion every 21 days. He has been on this for about two years. The side effects that bothers him the most is bloating (from Xoloda) and high blood pressure (from Av...

Re: mixed mri results

Thank you rp1954 for the links. Good article to study further on maintenance chemo and to share with our oncologist. He has never heard of ADAPT. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have learned a great deal from your posts.

Re: mixed mri results

My husband is on maintenance chemo because of his extensive liver involvement (12 Mets). Yes all the tumors were out after surgery but his oncologist strongly believes Xeloda plus Avastin will help prevent recurrence in this case for the most critical first two to three years after mop up chemo. My ...

Re: The nagging feeling...

Distraction really works for my husband. He insisted not to take many days off from work throughout his treatment. He only took one week off for his LAR colon surgery and one week off plus one week work from home for his open liver surgery. He believes working, especially going in to the office ( no...

Re: Recovery time after liver resection

A few weeks after the surgery, my husband’s big L shape incision opened up in two places and I had to pack in fresh gauze in those two open wounds twice daily to help healing. Both open wounds closed up nicely after a few weeks. Because of that, it was almost 10 weeks after his open liver surgery, h...
