Re: Oxaliplatin induced ototoxicity (hearing problems)

Hello all - Thanks for the response and feedback. The tinnitus is getting worse by the day. I could only hear it just before going to bed at night, these days I can even hear it during the day !! Apparently vitamin B complex can help with nerve function. I've been taking it for almost 2 weeks but it...

Oxaliplatin induced ototoxicity (hearing problems)

Hi all - just wondering if anyone has experienced hearing problems with oxaliplatin infusion? I have been hearing a buzzing sound in my ears in the last couple of weeks, my general practitioner doctor suspects tinnitus which is basically nerve damage in the ear. I'm only 41 this year and the only th...

Re: This cancer is getting to my head and I need some help

Hi Paul, just want to let you know I too understand where you are coming from and you are not alone. It's not easy to come on here to acknowledge the feelings and emotions that you are going through and I just want to say it's okay to do so. When I got diagnosed, my whole world got turned upside dow...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

I'm officially 2 years in the clear. Yay! All came out clear for MRI/ CT / Flex scope / Biopsy / Blood test ! It has been tough and I'm exhausted but it's another year closer to the 5 year mark! White blood cell count is low though which is strange, probably a side effect of all the chemo and radiat...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Hi Jolene, I too am keeping my fingers crossed for you, and will be very happy when you hit that two year milestone in January! Hopefully that will help take some of the stress out of your mind, knowing the chance of a recurrence continues to decrease. This pandemic for sure isn't helping any of us...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Hello all, just checking in to say hello for a bit. My next test will be in Jan 2021 and if pass, I will have hit the 2 years mark. Fingers crossed. It's been 2 years since I have been lurking around. Always grateful to all on the board here ! Life has been fairly well at least on the surface of thi...

Re: The stigma of cancer

Life is strange when something like cancer invades and most people are clueless how to act and can hurt your feeling. So, no thanks with telling. Been there done that already with my sisters. My feelings are if you can't help me you don't need to know! I like this! Good words to live by moving forw...

Re: The stigma of cancer

Oh, so glad to see this being addressed on here. Big hugs as I know where you are coming from. I definitely felt it. I have a group of long time friends (20 years!) who after finding out that I was diagnosed with cancer, seem to be so lost for words that almost after 2 years they are still unable to...

Hi Shania - Thank you for sharing your story. It's such an awe-inspiring one and I'm speechless after reading. You sound like one amazing strong woman. I honesty don't know if I could muster the same courage as you did if it happened to me. It's amazing that you never gave up and took the initiaitve...

Re: looking to donate/give away supplies

Hi Jep - Sorry to hear about your husband. I hope you and the family find comfort knowing that he is in a better place. I'm not in the US but I wonder if you can google to see if there might be some nearby non-profit cancer associations and see if it might be useful for their patients. They depend o...

Re: Please Help With Weight Loss/Endless Painful Constipation

I truly believe there is more to this story than what we are getting. Ever hear that old saying "there are 2 sides to every story"! For someone who wants help, when I asked several specific questions, I got vague repeat answers as a response. You can't really help someone who want to be t...

Re: Please Help With Weight Loss/Endless Painful Constipation

Oh dear, this sounds terrible. I am shocked that MSK hasn't stepped up at all given how well known they are for their bowel cancer studies? How about writing something official to their medical board directors direclty and bringing it to their attention if your healthcare team couldn't be bothered ?...
