Re: Covid delays

I read on another person’s Twitter about her mother needing to wait 13 months. I haven’t actually been told that by my doctors, though I am due for a CT now and there’s nothing scheduled and I haven’t heard a thing. I am 6 months overdue for the colonoscopy though, and they did tell me they would ge...

Re: Covid delays

I’m in Ottawa.

We’re in the “second wave” now. Positive cases going up. Another lockdown would be very bad news.

I don’t know what I can do other than wait. It would suck very much to miss something because of delayed screening.

Covid delays

Anyone else getting stressed over this? I’m 6 months late for my 1 year colonoscopy, and I’m due right now for a CT scan, but last thing I heard is that they have a 12 month delay right now. With Covid cases back on the rise, this has me feeling pretty anxious. I was able to get a CEA test done a fe...

Re: Update (9 months post surgery) (6 months post chemo)

Congratulations on your success and on the birth of your son.

Mine was only 3 months old when I was diagnosed. He’ll be 2 next month.

Children truly are a blessing.

I’m about 3 months late on my 1 year colonoscopy due to Covid I assume.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Best wishes going forward.

Re: One year anniversary and now delayed surveillance

I just missed my 1 year colonoscopy. Was supposed to be during the March break and I wasn’t able to get someone to chauffeur me. Hospital won’t allow you to leave by taxi. I called the hospital and told them. They said they had a lot of cancellations but that I had to call the surgeon’s office. So I...

Re: Hope for Stage 3 and 4 - one man's story

I had a similar, though far less egregious experience with a doctor when I finally decided to get checked out after months of rationalizing away the symptoms I did have. Drank too much the night before, ate the wrong thing, probably just hemorrhoids, etc. The doctor actually told me it was just hemo...

Re: Sigmoid Resection Recovery Question

My surgeon said it can take 18-24 months to get to “normal.”

Your body has been through a lot.

Drinking kefir has really helped me, but in my case I only drink it about twice a week or it overcorrects.

For the plane ride maybe pop a few imodiums before?

Re: chemoradiation therapy for rectosigmoid

My adenocarcinoma was about 12cm from the anal verge. It was not recommended that I have treatment prior to LAR. I consulted with two surgeons. I chose a surgeon who specializes in colorectal procedures - That is all he does day in and day out. He did a flexible sigmoid procedure three days prior t...

Re: chemoradiation therapy for rectosigmoid

My tumour was also rectosigmoid. I was about 15 cm from anal verge, depending on who measured. I was also treated as rectal. If you had suspicious nodes, that could be why they wanted to hit you with chemoradiation before surgery. There’s a saying I like. I used to use it when it came to beers, but...

Re: Cancer and coffe????

I stopped drinking coffee for several months after diagnosis, but started up again as I enjoy it, and couldn’t find any evidence that it’s unhealthy or bad for cancer patients.

Re: New member - scared & looking for tips

Malidosa, My siblings also got checked because of me, as did my parents. They found and removed 3 polyps in one of them. Not cancer, but that’s how a lot of tumours get started. I know it’s probably hard to see it right now, but whatever they found in your brother would have grown for god knows how ...
