Mop up chemo - Port vs non-port for Oxi?

I am going in to talk to my oncologist about my mop up chemo, which will be the XELOX regime. One of the questions he asked last time was about a port - I had just finished my APR and wasn't looking for any more surgeries, so I said I didn't need one. However, in searching this board, I found a lot ...

Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

So another noob question -

When do the razor/lava poops go away? It's been 6 days since my last radiation and it's still quite painful to pass, even though the diarrhea is gone. I guess its always be careful what you wish for - trade one inconvenience for another more painful one.

Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

Sorry to ask a new question, but how long after radiation ended with the diaherra (for those who got it) go away? I have 3 more days (the boosts) and I am ready for this particular side effect to end. I never experienced the diarhea too much, but do notice that you are doing 28 sessions. Just wonde...

Congrats Deep!

My tumor is pretty low, and I can definitely feel a burning when I poop. The skin cream helps a little - 4 days to go for me, then onto the next part of treatment.

Re: What Week Of Chemo/Radiation Do The Symptoms Start Getting Worse?

At 18/28 done treatments now, and it's getting to be pretty noticeable/bad. Starting to understand the "razor poops" previous threads have talked about. I've been good about putting aloe around the area multiple times a day, but unclear how much it is helping. Of course the light is at the...

Re: How did you first discover or got diagnosed with colorectal cancer ?

I noticed blood in my stool, and asked my PCP about it. He gave me a FIT test, which showed positive for blood. Because of my age (37), he said it was probably internal hemorrhoids and not to worry, especially since there's no known history of colorectal cancer in my family. Waited another few weeks...

I'm right there with you - finished week 1 today. Knocking on wood it stays pretty side effect free.

Stage 3A Rectal Cancer Diagnosis

Hi colon talk - been reading these threads a lot over the last few weeks since I got my diagnosis. It really helps to hear from real people who have been where I am and worse. I'm a 37 year old male. I had noticed blood in the stool, and after taking a FIT test from my primary care doctor, was recom...
